So fun yet so heartbreaking to play together with the community one last time
The game will stay open while we look for new partners, but the team will be heading off tomorrow (other than me)
I hope we find a home where you can continue to play for a long time
But it has been my honor and privilege to get to make this game and play with you all!

The mystery of life, and business, has a lot of twists and turns.
We may not be done yet, Mysterios!
If you want the game to survive, get the word out. Make everyone here you.
Now’s the time.
So many people have reached out and offered support after our announcement of the suspension of development on @InviteToMystery
I’ve had a lot of good conversations on how to keep this going.
Some of the opportunities:
- A podcaster reached out to see if he can make podcast dramas
- A streaming platform is interested in making it one of the first big polished games playable on Telegram
- An wagering platform wants to use it to allow people to do real-money tournaments
- Abstract wants the game and is willing to offer support
- The Ronin community has been pinging us for days to bring it on their chain
It would be retarded to just let this…die.
The conversion that made it all click for me was with @PicoSols
He suggested that we tokenize the IP. That means the community would own the IP and the game co would license it for a fee (after a certain revenue threshold is hit).
I really like this idea.
Listening to Sols talk about the benefits of community IP ownership and how it could all work, it really got me passionate again for really the first time in months.
My soul has been absolutely sucked by unsuccessfully fundraising and talking to people who just want a TGE so they can dump on my community and don’t give a shit about me or the game or any of the players.
I got into this because I missed Club Penguin and I wanted to do Club Penguin for adults. And somehow all the people I got introduced to just wanted to extract and it just felt soulless and so disconnected from what I want to do and am good at.
But the last few days you’ve let me know that YOU may still be out there. YOU may still care. YOU may want to build something together that’s more than a pump & dump. YOU may want to build a real clubhouse for web3.
If YOU are still out three and YOU want to figure this out, I think I see a way.
I’m going on @mizzysworld’s podcast soon. I’m going to tell the REAL story of this game. Why it’s personal to me. And why I don’t just want to let it go. I’m going to get really raw and tell you something very vulnerable that no one but my family knows about this game.
And then we’ll see…
Join us for the FINAL Game Night of The Mystery Society!!
Say farewell and betray your friends for the last time

@InviteToMystery 1) Thank you for all the hard work you have put into making this great and exciting game. This game is truly one of the best web3 games. This was really sad news because I have been playing this game for about a year and it was really exciting for me.
An amazing team and founder in @chrisheatherly and a true game dev at heart.
Web3 gaming is almost impossible.
Wherever Chris goes next with his next title I will be playing
S-teir social game and probably one of the most streamable games in web3
Gave among us vibes, firmly convinced that had @InviteToMystery launched on Steam as a web2 game it would’ve crushed it
Either way @chrisheatherly is a superstar. GGWP ❤️🩹
@chrisheatherly@InviteToMystery Would love to collaborate with you and put together a stream for the final game night, I can get some of my creator homies to join me as well.
@InviteToMystery So sad to read this. I had a lot of fun playing the game and collecting many cool wearables. Hopefully, you will find a new home and continue developing this great game 🫶
It's always sad to hear web3 games suspending development
But this strikes me differently, I didn't work with the team tho, but I always followed them and believed they were building something special and big
I think that says something about our industry
Damn, sad to see The Mystery Society suspend development
This was one of the great fun and polished games in the space
Calling on potential publishers - take a look at the game, there's potential here
We are very sad to announce that The Mystery Society unfortunately will be suspending development.
We built an S-tier team, shipped and live operated an actually fun game with promising metrics, and built a passionate community, but unfortunately, the state of web3 gaming is just too challenged right now and despite all our efforts, we have been unable to secure the funds to keep building.
We will keep the game live for as long as we can while we look for a new home. We are considering a relaunch without the web3 elements on Steam. And we are open to shifting the game to a publisher - either in web2 or web3 - if there are any willing to take it forward.
However, this does mean our plans for the $MYSTRY token are on indefinite hold. If we find another web3 partner, we will seek to find a way to reward our community for their loyalty to the game.
We will also be refunding all the customers who purchased gems.
We want to thank our community who have been amazing and truly the best part of this journey. The most heartbreaking aspect of this is that we will not get to keep building and playing the game we had envisioned with you.
Our final Game Night will be this Thursday at 3 pm PST.
Please stop by to say farewell (for now at least) to The Mystery Society and our great team, before we head to our next adventures.
Thank you for all the mystery, mayhem...and memories!
