DEVELOPING: The suspects who stole the drugs in Port Shepstone are KNOWN, according to Warrant Officer Karl Sanders.

RECAP:

Commissioner Sandile Khumalo indicates that Karl attributes his job transfer to having inadvertently "stepped on the toes" of certain individuals in DPCI for intercepting drug syndicates.

Karl indicates that the individuals suspected of stealing the drugs have been identified and are known. He further states that the connection between these suspects and the DPCI management is currently under investigation. His senior subordinate gave him the info.

The Madlanga Commission has an estimated budget of R147.898 million.
To date, the commission has exposed the so-called “Big Five” cartel, a drug syndicate allegedly linked to several senior police officers and politicians.
One of its key witnesses, Marius van der Merwe, was shot and killed on 5 December 2025 in full view of his wife and two children.
More than 34 people have been arrested thus far, including 13 senior police officers implicated in the R360-million SAPS tender awarded to Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala’s company, Medicare 24. The controversy surrounding the tender ultimately led to the suspension of National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola. Those arrested also include municipal officials and individuals linked to organised crime.
Several officials have been suspended from their positions, among them Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Deputy Chief, Brigadier Julius Mkhwanazi, and Municipal Manager, Kagiso Lerutla. Both were arrested in April on charges of fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
Other notable arrests include Sergeant Fannie Ezekiel Nkosi, who was apprehended following a raid on his Pretoria home, and Captain Laurance Makgotloe, a senior SAPS forensic ballistics analyst accused of manipulating forensic evidence.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has already granted the commission one extension. It is now expected to conclude its work and submit its final report by 31 August 2026. According to information provided to the commission, no further extension will be granted.

Arthur Fraser's interview flew too quietly for my liking considering the material he gave us. The man accounted in detail how SSA was supposed to work, and how SSA has had foreign actors trying to destroy for decades.

He accounts how Gibson Njenje and a few other ANC comrades were working with apartheid NIS operatives and that Helen Zille has been using former NIS operatives to intercept ANC coms for years. Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams pledged funding of R500 million to spaza shops.

One spaza owner says each shop was told they would receive R100,000, split into R10,000 for consultants, R50,000 for infrastructure and R40,000 for stock.

He says he only received the R40,000 for stock.

It’s plausible that the full R100,000 allocations were approved for shop owners but the remaining funds siphoned off to pockets of politicians.

The inclusion of a mandatory R10,000 consultant fee is clearly part of the looting mechanism put in place.

The statement claims

R79.6 million approved for 1,316 spaza shops (not 728 as previously claimed)

Provincial breakdown given (Gauteng 593, KZN 496, etc.)

4,522 applications received, 4,240 assessed

58% have valid licences/permits

350 applications rejected for fake businesses, ownership fraud, fronting

What they STILL won’t tell us:

Names of the 1,316 beneficiaries – where is the public register?

What happened to the other R420 million – this update only covers SEDFA’s R150 million portion. Where is the rest?

42% of applicants don’t even have valid licences – so how did they apply?

350 applications were outright fraudulent (non-existent businesses, owners fronting for foreigners)

If the government couldn’t catch those 350 easily, how many more slipped through?

Bottom line:

Pressure works.

We want;

1. Published list of all approved beneficiaries (with shop names and locations)

3. Full disclosure of all delivery partners and their fees

Until then, we remain unconvinced. This smells like another political slush fund dressed up as “township economic empowerment.”
