I've stopped rting this kinds stuff, but this one irked me, idk why we spend so much time trying to split apart this community. Teaching an esports degree is the best thing I've ever done.
Esports degrees are about transferable skills, that's it, that's basically what any degree is worth. You develop skills in a specific interest, and if you're lucky, you can find a job in that specialty, and if you don't? Hey, at least you have a skill set you can take elsewhere.
Esports is live event management, It's customer service, it's partnerships and sales, It's community building, it's so many topics & disciplines
Lastly, It's allowing kids to have a place to go to university, experience being a college student, and getting to take home a bachelors degree at the end of it - Why do soooo many people have an issue with people going to school for something they genuinely love?????????
Was 4’10” 95 lbs 1st day of high school. Only sport I could compete in was golf.
When golf was over, started tryharding in LoL to play for my collegiate team. One of the coolest parts about video games to me is it levels the physical playing field. Throughout the years I’ve gotten my ass handed to me by players in powered chairs and women at events.
I am not physically gifted I couldn’t compete in anything else collegiately. Gaming opened doors for me and as an avenue levels the physical playing field. It should be one of the greatest appeals to competitive gaming and esports.
How much longer are we, as a community, going to stay silent while companies go months without paying the very people (our friends) who make their events possible?
Forget growth. Forget sustainability. This is about making sure our people can eat and keep a roof over their heads.
