Let us leave here today with a renewed commitment. To work harder. To love deeper. To believe again.

NIGERIA AT 66
Fellow Nigerians,
We stand today not just to mark a date on a calendar, but to celebrate a promise made 66 years ago on this very day - October 1st, 1960. A promise that we, the people of this great nation, would be the masters of our own destiny.
In our markets when we trade fairly. In our offices when we refuse to take a bribe. In our communities when we choose peace over violence.
Nigeria is not a failed country. Nigeria is an unfinished project. And unfinished projects are for builders.
Will we be the generation that complains, or the generation that builds?
Will we be divided by tribe, religion and politics, or united by purpose?
The future of Nigeria will not be built in Aso Rock alone. It will be built in our classrooms when we teach honestly.
Independence did not mean our problems would end. It meant we finally had the power to solve them ourselves.
So the question today is not "What has Nigeria done for us?" The question is, "What will we do for Nigeria?"
For 66 years, we have survived what was meant to break us. We survived a civil war and remained one. We survived military rule and returned to democracy. We survive, we adapt, we hustle, we create. That is the Nigerian spirit - unbreakable.
Yes, our journey has not been perfect. We have known struggle. We have known pain. We have faced corruption, insecurity, division and disappointment. To deny that would be dishonest.
But to focus only on that would be to miss the point.
From the creeks of the Niger Delta to the hills of Kaduna, from the markets of Onitsha to the plains of Sokoto, we are one people bound by one flag. Green for our wealth, white for our peace.
That promise was not given to us. It was earned. Earned by the sweat and sacrifice of our founding fathers - Azikiwe, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa and countless unnamed heroes who refused to believe that we were meant to be ruled.

Dear @WorldBank & @IMFNews
STOP lending the @MBuhari junta money. Note, if you lend to them after today, you are not lending to Nigeria. You are lending to them in their own private capacities
Retweet this if you don’t want your future generations to pay Buhari’s debt #EndSARS
