Is this the support you were trying to avoid while lacking transparency and acting like snakes behind closed doors? You must’ve known it would be coming. Where is your leadership IQ? Now deal with this mess you’ve made. @HurstAthletics@MercyhurstU
Mike Folga was the best.
He was our EQ Manager at @HurstMHockey, but was also the EQ Manager for #NYR in 1994.
I spent a lot of time in his office when I transferred into Mercyhurst, and he'd share so many incredible stories from his time in New York in the 90's.
Really lucky I got the chance to know him, he always put a smile on our faces.
I'm beyond mortified what Mercyhurst did to those kids in the Men's D1 hockey program. Lets' hope this is not a trend starting at smaller schools. We need more men's and women's college hockey programs...#growthegame
As an alum of the program, I am so disappointed in the University. Decades of hard work undone with one short-sighted decision.
As a coach who is all too familiar with having a program cut, my heart breaks for the players and staff.

Mercyhurst named a head coach in waiting, asked people to donate to men’s hockey for Giving Day, then cut the program two days later. A program that helped build the school’s identity deserved better. So did the players, coaches, alumni, and supporters.
Mercyhurst gave me the chance to keep playing the game I love while earning an education. Some of my closest friendships were built on and off the ice there, and I’ll always be grateful for that. A tough day for Mercyhurst University and the entire Erie community.
@HurstMHockey
I know the past few years have been challenging for @HurstMHockey, but the program carries a deep tradition and was, for a long time, the only Division I program at @MercyhurstU.
Countless dedicated people have invested years into building and supporting this team, which makes the abrupt way it’s being cut especially difficult to accept.
My heart goes out to the players who wore that jersey with pride and represented a small school with so much passion.
This isn’t how it should end.
This was posted 24 hours before they announced they cut the program. I say “announced” because the decision was made before yesterday, and they still asked for hockey donors to give money.
Embarrassing by the Mercyhurst administration.
Feel for the players and coaches.
"To wear a letter at whatever juncture it may be is really cool and special.”
Joel Farabee has stepped up and taken on a leadership role on and off the ice!
