I'm the highest-profile Iranian protester who fled Iran after the January uprising. Here In Turkey, the regime pursued me; so far there were 2 attempts to harm me. I was abandoned by our “friends” and left in danger. After this, I will never be the same person.

They abandoned an Iranian protester despite their constant promises to help Iranian protesters. If they did this to me, they will do it to any other protester.

I feel betrayed, not only by our enemies, but now by our friends as well.

I thought I had changed after the January Uprising, but now, in exile in Turkey, I have become a completely different person. I will never be the same.

Rayan Amiri, an Iranian political refugee and founding leader of the Conservative Party of Iran, tells NewsNation he is receiving “obvious and direct threats of assassination and intimidation” from the government regime and its associates.

Amiri believes he’s being targeted due to his status as an Iranian civic nationalist who is anti-Islamist and pro-Israel, adding he is capable of mobilizing people in and outside Iran. He is speaking publicly in order to “raise the expense and cost of harming me from the bad actors.”
