FIFA President Gianni Infantino could face an investigation by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) following plans by a human rights group to file a formal complaint claiming he violated political neutrality regulations through his public alignment with US President Donald Trump.

The human rights organization FairSquare announced it will lodge the complaint directly with the IOC, citing Infantino's "repeated breach of political neutrality rules." This move escalates an ongoing dispute, as the group has already challenged FIFA's internal oversight mechanisms.

Previously, in December 2025, FairSquare submitted a complaint to the FIFA Ethics Committee detailing multiple instances where the football governing body's chief publicly endorsed Trump's actions and political policies.

According to FairSquare, the submission also calls on the Ethics Committee to investigate Infantino's involvement in establishing a "FIFA Peace Prize," the decision to subsequently award it to Trump, and whether the entire process adhered to FIFA's official procedural rules.
