I fully believe someone like Araghchi would apply for asylum in America and fail. It's not confirmed but it's not unrealistic.
Araghchi seems like the type.
Even he could hear the sound of his own bullshit as he tried to convince everyone and himself that Mojtaba is alive.
“They just killed 20–30! They are killing us. They have no souls. How can civilians fight back”
More footage coming out of Iran showing how the Islamic Republic mercenaries were riding vehicles with mounted DShKas.
Let the world see this. Do not stop talking about Iran. The Iranian people need us all.
If reports are true that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi sought U.S. asylum, the implication is striking: at the top of the regime, there is fear about its survival and about accountability for its crimes.
Iran's Intelligence Ministry said on Saturday that 31 people had been arrested in Kerman province over alleged involvement in four organized networks it said were preparing to take part in nationwide protest calls and street unrest.
The ministry said the groups, based in Sirjan, had been organized under names intended to appeal to teenagers and young people and had drawn up plans for participation in future nationwide calls for protests.
It also accused members of making Molotov cocktails and tools for damaging surveillance cameras, and of involvement in protests during the nationwide protests in January.

This is what the criminal Islamic Republic did not want the world to see.

Iranian immigrants to the West in the past 40 years have lived successful lives, contributed to society.
They're not on the streets protesting for Islam or for Sharia law.
They left Iran to escape it.

A rumor out of Iran says Abbas Araghchi asked the Americans for asylum the week he was in New York, got a preliminary yes, and pulled it two days later. Family problems, he said.
The version going around was that his own security detail found out and his sister and family were picked up overnight. That is why he stayed. He was trying to bargain his way out of a case before Rubio told the delegation to get on a plane.
I cannot confirm the asylum request. The week on the record is strange enough. Pezeshkian spoke and left. Araghchi stayed, supposedly for indirect talks through Qatar that went nowhere. Axios reported the State Department put a U.S. protective detail on him after reviewing threats. Then Rubio ordered the team out. They flew to Doha at 1:20 in the morning. Tehran denied they had been told to leave.
Then he landed, and his sister was dead. Pezeshkian, the roads minister, the atomic energy chief, Qatar, Pakistan, all sending condolences. A funeral photo. No cause.
A foreign minister who needs American bodyguards in New York, because he does not trust the men who flew in with him, is not negotiating from strength. He comes home and the person who was supposed to be the leverage is in the ground. The Islamic Republic does not have to announce how these things happen. It just has to make sure the diplomat is the one standing at the grave.
No matter what happened, Araghchi's travel to New York and his extra stay and getting thrown out were all very strange. The regime might be closer to falling than we think.
