Patriarchy valued areas of physical ability that conform to male strengths, and devalued areas of physical ability that conform to female strengths.
You don't undo that by denying physiological facts (that makes you look bonkers), you undo it by challenging the value hierarchy.
@BSIC_XX @Carm5012 @LilyLilyMaynard I used to be more naive; "Why do some clubs hire a (typical/average sized) woman to their security team?" I had a female friend who worked security at the door of a nightclub but I never asked her about it. Now I understand.
Eldest was spiked last night & escorted from the bar by security, who thought she was 'just' drunk, without being allowed to find her friends. Women, watch your drinks! Security, please gauge a situation carefully B4 chucking a disorientated young woman out on the street at 12am
If a pub employs security guards, one should be female, for a variety of reasons. In this situation I believe a woman would have automatically thought ahead to the possible consequences of eviciting J like that. It probably didn't even cross the men's minds.
@aletheia327 OP's second post contains "that shit is so wet" and my skin crawled. I doom-scrolled further and some replies had variations of that same phrase. My skin melted off from the cringe. A lot of that language is just so forced and weird to me 🤢
@pipoquinhasss @pileapop Fr. Male violence is overwhelmingly the issue. But female pick-mes are almost as infuriating as those males when they do double-flips through all the logical hoops to defend male violence. As if it's even comparable. It's just not.
We're never making it out of here huh 🥹
I am sick of seeing story after story of women being beaten and raped and murdered by men and all the comments talking about how "PEOPLE are so evil", "how could PEOPLE do this?!"
Reminder to the lads that the fastest way to shut down @jk_rowling ’s new support centre for female survivors of sexual violence is to stop committing sexual violence against female people.
@Beringia3@murasaki_meezer @Grah195666 @ripx4nutmeg They never have an answer when it's asked how bad it has to get before these victims matter. Anybody can see the obvious patterns in the thing that "never happens," yet we're supposed to not notice that they are NOT, in fact, isolated incidents. :/
@hangry_dad@tradrmum@ripx4nutmeg Shame on you for it even being your 2nd thought. Even in an imaginary scenario where the girls HAD mocked him, that's not an excuse. (He would deserve to be mocked anyway for his actions imo. He still wouldn't be justified to beat up those girls.)
Even in places and times when we were reduced to chattel, regarded as objects, denied choices over what happened in our lives...there's an unconquerable human spirit in women, a spirit that men have spent eons trying -- but failing -- to wring out of us.
But the drawing of the woman is different from the rest. It's been added after-the-fact. A piece of graffiti, scratched into the walls by some unnamed woman.
In her drawing, the woman is in the process of giving birth. Her breasts are shown hanging off to her sides.
See below:
It's a simple image -- almost a cartoon, or a doodle. But it never ceases to bring deep emotions for me.
Nearly 10,000 years ago, surrounded by male imagery, some gutsy woman scratched her own representation out on the walls. Now it sits in a museum.
