Irish Vets served alongside him/under him over the years, he was a man who strove to work across the aisle, in a time before divisive bitterness became so entrenched in the political landscape. Parkinsons & Covid eventually took him out. Rest in Peace, Colin Powell #irishveterans
Everyone has to go sometime, but the loss of Paddy Moloney is huge. I recall getting into Rock n Blues in early '60s when, in '64, The Chieftans LP emerged on Claddagh - mind-changing and hauntingly beautiful. Thank you Paddy, fellow Northsider & international Irishman! RIP.
Min Def to open #ONEVeterans new hostel in Cobh, and we trust he will reflect on the actions of successive govts which have contributed to this need. Much kudos to @OneFuchsia for such much-needed work. #irishveterans
Lightening darkness of the anniversary of 9/11, Irish Veterans Chapter #4, Newport RI, named for 1st Sgt Andrew McKenna, who lost his life in Afghanistan 2015, award McKenna Scholarships annually to high schoolers moving to College, or any Branch of US Military. #irishveterans
Allied military service was, in the main, conducted honourably and courageously, with the evolving mission’s focus being on the needs of the people. It will be the decisions of politicians that will help make ordinary life in the country, better or worse.

Charlie Watts @ 80 passes over to join that legendary band-in-the-sky. Always believed the Stones would exist long after The Beatles, and they didn't disappoint. And Charlie was also a great jazz percussionist. Thanks so much for the last 58 years!
This may not be how we imagined commemorating the 20th anniversary of 9/11, but as many a wise Veteran has often said: “It is what it is". But each piece of work we do for those who need help – now and into the future – is an individual commemoration in itself. #irishveterans
Joe Galloway: VN War correspondent and combatant, author and gifted friend to soldiers, has passed at 79. Latterly, Joe was a comforting and incisive presence on FB. Sincere condolences to Gracie, and all close family/friends w/wide. Ar dheis De go raibh a ainm. #irishveterans
If Western Alliance is to salvage any shred of decency from Afghan pullout they must insist human rights be upheld, threats of female repression be removed and all civilians/refugees be afforded full protection & ongoing support. Ireland must assist @dfatirl@Malala@UNICEF@rte

GR8 news that Maureen Sweeney has finally been honored for contribution to D-Day Landings. Irish were spread t/out the Normandy Invasions, among top brass and those who waded ashore. Maureen’s observations saved an incalculable number of lives, and changed history. #irishveterans
In remembrance of all who served, fought & those who lost their lives 77 years ago, on 6 June 1944, without whose bravery, courage and selflessness, the world would be a vastly different place. To all Irish who served: In ar gcroithe go deo - in our hearts forever. #irishveterans
