JUST IN: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has appointed senior investigator Oberty Inambao as its acting head of investigation.

He first joined the ACC in 2009, later left to become head of forensic investigations at Standard Bank Namibia, and returned to the ACC in 2020 as a chief investigating officer.

He is a key figure in the ongoing Namcor-Enercon corruption case, having led investigations that led to mass arrests last year.

The position has not had a substantive head since Phelem Masule vacated it in 2024.

JUST IN: The woman who was shot dead inside her Havana informal settlement home last Friday has been identified as Rachel Frans (39), a mother of three.

A 41-year-old man, Benong Urikhob, who has been arrested in connection with her murder, made his first appearance in the Katutura Magistrate's Court today on charges of murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence.

Frans and Urikhob had been in a relationship since 2019 and shared a young child together.

According to her family, Frans had previously opened a case against Urikhob and had allegedly endured repeated abuse and death threats during their relationship.

The matter was postponed to 8 September for a formal bail application, and Urikhob remains in custody.

Frans' body was discovered on Friday afternoon by her 14-year-old daughter, who alerted a neighbour after finding her mother unresponsive. The neighbour rushed to the house and found Frans lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to her chest.
