@charliebilello Now overlay average home prices and average income and average insurance and average property tax, adjust for inflation, and express % of average household income required to make payments on the average home, over time. It all combines unsustainably.
@wholemars Unable to judge speed bump intensity, bottomed out. Constant jiggling in lane and jiggling in speed.
Feels like it's 95% there, needs to incorporate more real world data (like how fast I negotiate those speed bumps every single day).

@UHC@askUHC@TriNet@RicardoLara4CA Any update here? 14 days left in open enrollment, and this price gouging is forcing very hard choices. 81% year over year increase is absurd.
@askUHC#OpenEnrollment#PremiumExplosion Why did my premium increase 81% from last year? $1,820/m to $3,297/m for self, spouse and 1 child, with no change to coverage. UHC Choice+ 1000 CA South.
slate star codex thoroughly dismantles the nyt hit, though expresses justifiable concern that on account of the times’ power and reach far more people will read the distortion than will read his response. let’s make sure that doesn’t happen: https://t.co/yGWo8APw7t
It doesn't matter what rights you have under the Constitution, if the government can punish you for exercising those rights. And it doesn't matter what limits the Constitution puts on government officials' power, if they can exceed those limits without any adverse consequences.
We now have two observed models for how to beat the coronavirus in any given country:
1. Do everything right, including contact tracing, testing, closing the economy and schools, wearing masks, and social distancing.
and...
2. Don't do any of those fucking things.
The only way to end the anti-science restrictions is to push back. Explicitly pull your kids out of school to homeschool them = $0 to the school, $0 contribution to employees who refuse to work. The teachers' 'health' concerns will vaporize when they start getting pinkslips.
Politicians (all parties), with VERY few exceptions, are corrupt beyond belief. Look at the net worth by year before and after election to major office, and try to explain it via any non-corrupt answer. You will fail. They do not represent YOU, so why do you vote for THEM???
Don't let them have the full funding if they are not delivering the desperately needed schooling experience, in full. They aren't going to give you a partial refund on your property taxes (which is also reflected in rents).
If you are a parent who is upset that the Governor and/or local school board refuses to allow schools to open, officially pull your child(ren) out of school to home school them. This will defund the school. This will reverse the politicized (not scientific) decision to not open.
