Happy Kyiv Day! As we celebrate the founding of this historic city in 482, we pay tribute to the bravery & resourcefulness of its people, as they deal with constant & ongoing threats from Russia. We are proud to work and live in the heart of sovereign & independent Ukraine. 🇺🇦
Ireland and the EU will continue to stand in full solidarity with Ukraine.
Russia’s blatant threats and attempts to intimidate diplomats and civilians in Kyiv are completely unacceptable. We reject them utterly.
Amb. Conlon joined @andrii_sybiha & colleagues to pay respects following the death of at least 2 civilians at an apartment block in Kyiv yesterday. Also witnessed the remains of a shopping mall & market. Part of a barrage of 90 missiles & 600 drones, many targeting civilian areas
I strongly condemn Russia’s massive and indiscriminate missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities last night.
The deliberate targeting of civilians is a war crime.
Yesterday, Ambassador Conlon was invited to speak to students at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv about a career in diplomacy. A big thank you to the students for the interesting exchange and questions!
Amb. Conlon was pleased to meet today with Ukrainian skeleton Olympian @heraskevych ahead of his upcoming visit to Ireland. Discussions focused on the importance of sport during and post-war, in particular for veterans with disabilities, and Vladyslav’s projects in this area.

Today, we honour the memory of the tens of thousands of Crimean Tatars forcefully deported by the Soviet régime in May 1944. As part of their illegal occupation of Crimea, Russia continues to persecute Crimean Tatars today. We stand in solidarity with them & all Ukrainians.
Ambassador Conlon visited the site of a residential building in Kyiv that suffered a direct hit by a Russian missile yesterday, part of the largest combined Russian attack since the full-scale invasion. Our deepest condolences to the families of all 24 killed, incl three children
I condemn the launch of hundreds of bombs and drones on Ukraine last night. Russia’s actions stand in stark contrast to Ukraine’s offer to extend the three-day ceasefire. They underline in very clear terms who the aggressor is. Ireland stands with Ukraine and for peace.
Today we celebrate Europe Day. 🇪🇺
A timely opportunity for Ireland to celebrate our place in Europe and reflect on the benefits of EU membership ahead of our Presidency of the Council of the European Union commencing on 1 July 2026. 🇮🇪🤝🇪🇺

Russia must be held accountable for the severe damage it has caused in Ukraine.
Today’s 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster is a truly solemn occasion.
It serves as an opportunity to reflect, not only on the tragic disaster, but on the compassionate reaction of our island and those who worked tirelessly to bring hope and empathy to those affected.
#Kharkiv Last Friday Jacqueline Mahon, UNFPA Representative, saw the commitment of health workers supporting women and newborns under constant shelling — as Ireland supports the construction of two underground maternity facilities. Dedication must be supported by safety.
In response to consecutive days of attacks impacting #Kharkiv city and communities in the region, UNICEF and our partner @RedCrossUkraine have been on the ground assisting children and families.
Our life-saving emergency support enabled by funding from @Irish_Aid and @FCDOGovUK.
The ribbon is cut on our new offices in Kyiv! We were delighted to have Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade @HMcEntee open our new Embassy Chancery yesterday, alongside Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine @YPerebyinis, and Ambassador Jonathan Conlon. #Working4Ireland
