General bulking rule...
If you can't easily knock off 10 to 15 pounds on a mini-cut without wavering or needing to cheat...
You have no business bulking.

Convinced you're a hardgainer? There's a 97.5% chance that it's your training effort, nutrition, or consistency rather than poor genetics. #massiveiron

At what point does food abuse become food addiction?
Addiction can be defined as loss of control to the point where something becomes harmful to you.
Thoughts?

Is a short 14-20 day mini-cut OK? Of course.
Think of body composition in terms of yearly goals and overall time required to reach a desired outcome.
If life opens the door for a quick "dig in and go" small cutting phase, have at it. Every pound matters in the long run.
In a grander sense, we should enjoy the overall training process.
Still, there are many things you MUST do that you may not enjoy.
You better learn quickly that there are some things you must do that you don't want to do.

Old school bodybuilding... Train hard, BUILD the body, FUEL the body... GROW.
Shredded abs generation... Stay lean, walk a fine line, and make it hard to grow.

Instead of thinking: "I want to get the most possible reps from this set."
Focus on: "I want to get the most out of this set."
I built my strength trying to crush sets, not trying to crush PRs.
Wanting to add reps is a good thing but for muscle building do so in this context.
Thanks to everyone that applied for a free month of coaching.
I received 75 entries and will be combing through them as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience and look for a text or email this week.

Of all the major lifts the Romanian deadlift is the least understand and most poorly executed...
This includes trainers, online coaches, and lifting gurus.
It's a lift that's easy to prescribe but that is immensely misunderstood and ill-applied.

"It worked for me!"
Anything works if it's a step up.
Just because you took a step forward doesn't mean you're at an optimal pace. Don't settle. Continue to learn, push hard, and evolve training based on feedback when at war with the iron.

Oh no! Guess my form is bad? My gainz (with extra Zs don't count?
This is a great example of how strength training has ripped the heart out of muscle building.

Can volume build strength?
I spent the last 5 years doing ONLY bench volume with 225; sets of 10s. I considered my training to be "weak."
After returning to heavier weights this week I felt stronger than I did before. Don't sleep on periods of volume when building strength.
If you take two hard-training, dedicated newb lifters that are nailing nutrition and put one on a body part split and one on frequency training, and let them crush it for 5 years...
There will be no important difference in size or strength at the end point. NONE.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is the rushing of sets; minimal control of the lowering/eccentric.
Try to make sets hard rather than rushing to hit a rep number. Reps and progression matter in this context.
Focus on set quality; getting everything you can out of each rep.
