i don't think all academics are driven by trauma. but academia attracts ppl who experienced school as a central space of validation, maybe the only place they were ever praised/"seen." also, academic accomplishments are wielded to counter parental neglect & societal debasement.

I started crying because 1. We are not in Mexico and can't get tacos 2. I'm not getting tacos and 3. That is the most beautiful sentence you can say to a mexican.
