Don’t let your pain harden into bitterness
Transform it into purpose.
First pic is 2 weeks after being released from the hospital following colon resection 5/3/24. I was 195 pounds in this pic. By 2/1/25 I was 30 pounds thinner my low being 162. I couldn’t eat or absorb anything.
It wasn’t pretty.
Second pic is 3 weeks after being released from the hospital back to the office seeing patients.
Last pic is a few months ago after two years of working to get back.
Most of us don’t struggle with a lack of effort.
We struggle with a lack of clarity.
Clarity gives a certain quiet confidence. This confidence comes from having your head, heart, and actions aligned.
Two years ago today we were hanging poolside, had grilled some steaks for dinner. Then life changed. Spontaneous colon rupture, sepsis, given 48 hours to live and truly lucky to still be here. This day changed my life forever.
It’s been a long road, letting go of drugs and alcohol, surviving 2 heart attacks, multiple surgeries, and two weeks ago BL pulmonary embolisms.
I’ve had my times where it has been hard to mentally stay in the game. The gym has truly saved my life.
I’ve really tried to dedicate my life to helping others be it sharing my story, or knowledge I’ve gained along the way.
I am incredibly thankful for the fitness side of X. The friendships and support have been amazing.
My mom’s first day in the gym about 9 months ago. At the age of 84 she decided to change her life, eat right, move a little weight. She’s been infectious as she now has 10 ladies that have joined her.
There have been plenty of hilarious moments as somehow I’ve become the trainer for this crew.
My mom unfortunately broke her hip yesterday, she’s going into surgery in about an hour. I hate the setback for her, but happy she’s done so much work up to this point to make recovery that much easier.
“Act as if” great line from one of my favorite movies Boiler Room.
In 2016 I was down in Costa Rica eating dinner with a group we just met and across the table from me was Ben Younger. He wrote and directed the movie.
I coached HS lacrosse for a decade and had quoted the act as if scene at the beginning of every season. So it was super cool to meet this man.
Today I’ve added to this statement to act as if you already are the man you want to become. Leaders don’t just one day decide to lead they believed long before their achievements caught up to them. This isn’t about being fake, or putting on a costume it’s a belief in yourself that nothing will stop you.
Have a clear vision of who you want to become and start acting that way. Enter a room with confidence, truly believe even though you may fail you won’t quit.
When belief becomes real greatness happens.
There’s your bumper sticker
Ideals
I am at a place in my life where I have the opportunity to create something new, and different. I have built and sold 4 other private practices and by every metric they were very successful. The issue was I became a slave to my own creation. The joys of building became the hassles of my own success.
This had happened with my TRT business it all became about numbers and profit, and it was no longer enjoyable. Going to heart based pricing, having people pay what they could afford or feel my time was worth completely changed my approach and once again made it enjoyable. As I get back to defining and creating my private practice a similar approach will be taken.
To sit down and write down my ideals, my nonnegotiables made them way more intentional. Some are inherently there and other I continue to strive for.
Take the time to write yours down and live a life full of intention and action.
Ideals defined by Grok.
Key Characteristics of Personal Ideals:
• Voluntary & Self-Chosen: Unlike inherited cultural norms or external rules, personal ideals are deliberately adopted or refined by the individual. They reflect what you believe is excellent, worthy, or true, even if the world disagrees.
• Aspirational: They represent the “best version” of yourself or the standards you strive toward, rather than a description of current reality. Ideals often highlight the gap between “what is” and “what ought to be.”
• Hierarchical & Interconnected: Some ideals serve as foundational (e.g., truth-seeking), while others flow from them (e.g., intellectual courage or curiosity). They form a coherent worldview rather than a random list.
• Action-Oriented: True ideals aren’t just abstract beliefs—they influence daily choices, what you praise/criticize, how you argue, what you’re willing to sacrifice for, and how you treat others.
• Evolving but Stable: Good personal ideals can be refined with new evidence or experience, but they aren’t flip-flopped lightly. They provide consistency over time.
Start your day with intention.
1. Hydrate, I personally slam 20 ounces of water with LMNT
2. Meditation/Prayer being in active recovery the third step prayer is part of my morning as well as getting in the proper mindset for the day.
3. Gratitude. I love a short walk outside, more of a stroll and just be thankful for the life I have.
Third step prayer
“God, I offer myself to Thee—to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always!”

Enjoy the day!
Happiness
Aristotle used the term eudaimonia which has been defined as happiness. What it actually means is flourishing, living well, or the highest human good and the ultimate purpose of life.
First pic I was making 7 figures, traveling, living what looked like a happy life. The reality was I was arrogant, selfish, 30% BF, drinking at minimum a 750 of whiskey a day. I was miserable.
Second pic today, I try and give of myself daily to help others, money is a byproduct of this, sober, truly healthy 12% BF.
True happiness comes from gratitude and striving to live a life to achieve that ultimate purpose.
@brentlajeunesse@SolBrah I would even take it a step further and say if you feel like crap with lower than total 500 total T it’s time to talk.
It’s not cheating and it certainly isn’t giving up.
High normal T levels is a life hack, zero reason for negativity around it.
Starting your day with gratitude is key to success. We get caught up in pace, elevation, logging every piece of food, weight lifted etc.
Make time for non of that and just get outside and be.
Yes I do this with a ruck, I’m not perfect 😀
We have created one of the greatest discussion pages on X. We are just shy of 300 men strong discussing all aspects of health and training. We also discuss sourcing even though we are a discussion page only.
We have also just added a spiritual healing conversation page that discusses all kinds of plant medicine and microdosing. Below is a sample from that page.
