🔸 June 14 - The Holy Prophet Elisha 🔸
Today, we commemorate the Holy Prophet Elisha. He lived in the 9th century BC and was called to prophetic service by the Prophet Elijah at the Lord’s command. When it was time for Elijah to be taken up to heaven, he asked Elisha, “Ask what | shall do for you before I am taken from you.” Elisha boldly replied, “Let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” Elijah answered, “You have asked a hard thing; if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so” (2 Kings 2:10).
As Elijah was taken up in a whirlwind by a fiery chariot of horses, Elisha cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horse!” (4 Kings 2: 12). Taking up the mantle of his teacher which had fallen from the sky, Elisha inherited the prophetic gifts of Elijah. With this mantle, Elisha struck the waters of the Jordan and said, “Where is the Lord God of Elijah?” upon which the river was divided and Elisha was able to cross (2 Kings 2:14). Elisha spent 65 years in the prophetic service under six kings of Israel, never wavering in his loyalty to the One True God.
He worked many miracles including: purifying the waters of a spring in Jericho to make it drinkable for the people, saving the armies of the kings of Israel and Judah by bringing forth abundant water by his prayer, and saving a poor and starving widow by bringing forth oil in a vessel which she was able to sell to pay off her debts. In a more stark story, when a group of youths from Bethel taunted Elisha for his baldness, he cursed them in the name of God, and two female bears came out of the forest and mauled 42 of the youths (2 Kings 2:23-24).
Elisha also once asked a Shunamite woman how he could repay her for the hospitality she had shown him, and the woman said the only thing she lacked was a child. By the prayers of Elisha, she was blessed with the birth of a son. When this child died suddenly, Elisha again prayed to the Lord, and raised him to life (2 Kings 4:32-35). After the Holy Prophet Elisha reposed, the corpse of another man was thrown into his grave. As soon as the dead man touched Elisha’s bones, he came to life and stood up (2 Kings 13:20-21).
Orthodoxy vs Freemasonry:
In short, Bishop Nikolai and Father Dimitri explain why Orthodox Christianity rejects the concept of secret or hidden knowledge reserved for a spiritual elite. They discuss how the Orthodox path differs from Freemasonry and other systems that emphasize exclusivity, status, power, or special access to spiritual truth. In Orthodoxy, the knowledge of God is not hidden from humanity. It is freely offered to all who seek Him through humility, repentance, prayer, and a life in Christ. The conversation also touches on Theosis, the Orthodox understanding of becoming more Christ-like, and why true spiritual growth is rooted in humility rather than feelings of superiority or exceptionalism.
🔸 June 13 - Saint Aquilina of Byblos 🔸
Today, we commemorate the holy child-martyr Saint Aquilina of Byblos. She suffered for Christ at just 12 years of age during the brutal persecutions of the Roman emperor Diocletian (284-305 AD). Saint Acquilina was born in the year 281 AD in the Phoenician city of Byblos (in modern-day Lebanon) to an illustrious father named Autolmios who was the magistrate of Palestine. She was raised in piety by her parents, and was baptised at age 5. At 10 years of age, the bright and eloquent Aquilina began to preach the Word of God with fiery zeal.
She instructed her pagan friends to keep away from the deception of idols, and managed to convert many girls of her same age to Christ. News of this young preacher was reported to the Proconsul Volusian, who ordered for her to be arrested and brought before him. Upon being questioned, St Aquilina confessed that she would never renounce her faith in Christ. For this response, she was beaten without mercy and her limbs were torn asunder. Her torturers then punctuated her ears with flaming iron rods, causing blood to flow from her nose and making her appear to be dead.
It is said that Volusian, thinking she was dead, ordered her body to be carried and the thrown outside the city to be eaten by wild dogs. That night however, an angel of the Lord appeared to Saint Aquilina and said: “Arise, and be whole!”. The virgin then was miraculously healed and arose. As she offered praises of thanksgiving to God and implored Him not to deprive her of fulfilling her desire to attain the crown of martyrdom, a voice from heaven was heard: “Go, it will be to you as you pray”.
St Aquilina returned to the city, and stood before Volusian who was seized with unspeakable fear upon seeing the saint alive and unharmed. After she once again triumphantly declared her faith in Christ before Volusian, the young maiden was sentenced to be beheaded. And thus, in 293 AD, the holy 12 year old maiden delivered her soul to the Lord.
When our political-media establishment chant "stand with Ukraine", it means boycotting diplomacy and finance the kidnapping of Ukrainian men to use them in a campaign to weaken Russia as a strategic rival. If the majority of Ukrainians had a say, there would not have been a regime change in 2014, the 2015 Minsk agreement would have been implemented, the 2019 peace platform would not have been reversed, the 2022 Istanbul agreement would have been signed, and there would now be negotiations about the pan-European security architecture. However, the US and EU run Ukraine, and men are hunted on the streets to fight to the last Ukrainian in NATO's proxy war.
Saint Luke, doctor of souls and bodies.
As the atheist communist regime was fighting against the faith and the Church, he confessed Christ by serving mankind with science, prayer, the Cross, love, and humility.
His life reminds us that no authority can extinguish the light of the Orthodox faith.
Saint Luke, intercede for us.
🔸 June 11 - The Holy Chinese Martyrs 🇨🇳🔸
Today, we also commemorate the Holy Chinese Martyrs of the Boxer Rebellion. A lesser known but touching story in Orthodox history, these Chinese saints gave their lives for Christ in Beijing during an anti-foreign, anti-Christian uprising which occurred in China in 1900. In 1685, the Russian Orthodox Church established an Orthodox mission in Beijing. In the two centuries that followed, many Chinese natives began to convert to Christianity, and some married Russian spouses.
The important missionary work in China was interrupted in 1900 with the Boxer rebellion - a violent campaign started by peasants and eventually supported by the Chinese government which sought to drive out all foreigners and foreign influence. It was named ‘Boxer rebellion’ as many of the Chinese rebels practiced martial arts and were known as ‘Chinese Boxers’. On June 10, 1900, leaflets were posted in the streets by the rebels, calling for the slaughter of all Christians, and threatening anyone who would dare to shelter them with death.
The bloodthirsty rebels marched with burning torches, holding aloft idols of traditional Chinese deities. About 70 Christians hid from danger in the home of the priest Saint Mitrophan who was the first Orthodox Chinese priest who had been ordained by Saint Nicholas, the Russian missionary of Japan. On June 11, the Boxers surrounded the house of Saint Mitrophan, and brutally slaughtered the martyrs who refused to renounce their faith. Before being executed himself, Saint Mitrophan was forced to watch the beheading of his wife Tatiana and 23 year old son Isaiah.
The rebels also cut off the nose, ears and toes of his 8 year old son John. In total, 222 Chinese Orthodox Christians suffered martyrdom at the hands of the Boxer rebels. The relics of Saint Mitrophan and other martyrs were placed in the Church of the All Holy Orthodox Martyrs, and a new church was erected on the site of their martyrdom. This church was destroyed by the communists in 1954, and the location of the relics are still unknown. Today, only a stone remains to signify their place of martyrdom.

Australia's official temperature record starts in 1910. Earlier observations are excluded from the BOM series for data quality, but the measurements still exist and they shouldn't be ignored.
A 1953 analysis by climatologist E. L. Deacon examined long records from inland stations.
Using 10-year averages of summer maximum temperatures, the study found extreme heat across Australia in the late 1800s during what's known as the Federation Drought. At the time, carbon dioxide was below 300 parts per million, meaning Australia was recording summer heat comparable to, and sometimes exceeding, modern levels long before modern emissions. And then, from roughly 1910 to 1940, temperatures cooled even as carbon dioxide climbed.
Australia's climate was capable of sustained heat extremes with CO2 levels below 300 parts per million.
The European "five conditions" for peace talks are tantamount to Russian capitulation:
1. Immediate ceasefire
2. The current contact line becomes the starting point for negotiations. Ukraine can join NATO.
3.Legally binding security guarantees, including the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine.
4. Russian assets are used to compensate Ukraine
5. Deal requires the consent of EU and NATO member states
*** The objective of European leaders is to prolong the war and pull the US into a more direct role. Toward this end, the narrative being developed is that the Europeans and Zelensky want negotiations, while Russia does not. Russia has made it clear since 2014 that restoring Ukraine's neutrality by ending NATO expansionism is a requirement for ending the conflict, while also demanding territorial concessions as a result of the war. The ceasefire will be used to rearm and regroup to prolong the war, the security guarantees and deployment of foreign troops undermine neutrality, and Russia will not accept giving up the money that was stolen. There is zero chance that any of these points can be met as the condition for peace talks. However, that is the point of setting such conditions for peace talks. The objective is to keep the war going, but manage the narrative after more than 4 years of boycotting diplomacy. Expect a lot of headlines about how European leaders are pushing for peace, only to meet resistance from Moscow.
🔸 June 9 - Saint Cyril of Alexandria 📜🔸
Today, we also commemorate Saint Cyril the Patriarch of Alexandria. St Cyril was born in Egypt in 376. Having spent 6 years at a monastery in the Nitrian desert, he was ordained a priest in 403 by his uncle Theophilus, the Patriarch of Alexandria. In 412, Cyril succeeded his uncle as Patriarch following his death. Cyril led the struggle against the Novatian heresy, which taught that Christians who had fallen away from the Church during the Roman persecutions could not be received back into it.
A more urgent struggle then emerged - the heresy of Nestorianism. Nestorius was an Antiochian priest who radically emphasised the distinction between Christ’s divine and human natures, effectively dividing Christ into two persons - one divine and one human. This conflicted with the Orthodox teaching that Christ is one Person (Hypostasis) in two natures - divine and human - united without confusion, change, division, or separation. Nestorius rejected expressions such as “God suffered” or “God was crucified”, asserting that only the man Jesus could suffer, not the Divine Logos.
He also rejected the term Theotokos (“God-bearer”) for the Virgin Mary, instead proposing the term Christotokos (“Christ-bearer”), since he claimed that she gave birth only to the man Jesus and not to God the Word. While Nestorius viewed Christ primarily as a moral example to the faithful, Cyril stressed the simple truth that He was God incarnate Who truly walked among us, suffered in the flesh, and died for our salvation. Cyril argued that Christ was not merely a perfect man indwelt by the Logos, as the Nestorians believed, but was the Divine Logos Himself.
In 428, Nestorius became Patriarch of Constantinople and spread his heresy despite repeated warnings from St Cyril. In 431, the Council of Ephesus was called to address this Christological controversy. A forceful opponent of Nestorius at the council, St Cyril charged him with undermining the unity of Christ’s Person, and vigorously defended the use of the term Theotokos. The council ultimately upheld the teaching of St Cyril and deposed Nestorius. St Cyril reposed in Alexandria in 444.
Religious freedom in Estonia must give way to the obligatory hatred of anything Russian. The authorities demand that the Estonian Orthodox Church cut ties with the Russian Orthodox Church.
Natalie Jaresko, a US-born American citizen working for the US State Department, including at the US embassy in Kiev, received Ukrainian citizenship following the NATO-backed coup in 2014 and immediately became the Finance Minister of Ukraine.
Salome Zourabichvili is a French citizen who served as the French ambassador to Georgia. Following the NATO-backed "Rose Revolution", Zourabichvili was granted Georgian citizenship (while still serving as the French ambassador to Georgia). Shortly thereafter, she left the job of France's ambassador to Georgia and took the job as Georgia's Foreign Minister. Later, she took the position of President of Georgia, and has since been a key advocate for allowing Georgia's civil society to be administered by Western "NGOs" financed by Western governments and cooperating with Western intelligence agencies. After holding the presidency, she went to work for the McCain Institute, where she advocates for more intervention, while in Georgia, the current political leadership warns about the West seeking to use these NGOs to topple their democratically elected government to open up another front against Russia.
The imperialist design is always celebrated as democracy, and the purge of the opposition is always celebrated in the West as fighting Russian interference. We cannot even have discussions in the West about the extent to which this supports or undermines our security - as all criticism is purged as "Kremlin talking points". In my opinion, Europe is committing suicide.
