Apart from the fact that I have been FIGHTING people in Twitch chat etc because, as someone who has heard too much AI and plenty of untrained VAs, and you did NOT sound as bad as it's claimed (people just heard Morgaine's actor change and spiralled into conspiracy from there) I need you all to know:

You guys nail the pure ethos of game dev. The deep dive a couple video weeks ago alone showed how much you guys give a shit, and the rumours circulating about the dev team having had a very limited budget is actually a credit to you all, because you COULD have last-ditched this update. You COULD have made it outwardly pristine with pro VAs and marketing, and left the core lacking, for the sake of grabbing players in (and many of us know too well how much a corporation's execs can push for immediate, tangible results)

But no, you guys threw all that you had into actually CREATING; into creating perhaps the coolest update this game has seen (and Brimstone Sands was sick, so you had your work cut out already) with no fanfare or marketing push, and still pulled people back in. For that, you've proven that you DESERVE to tweet about how proud you all are - because you should be!

I know I've said before that it's been inspiring to see @dev_katyk go from a first-seen dev on a 2022 Forged in Aeternum video to the Game Director, but this awe stands for all of you. As a creative myself, I know how much we can't help but care about the stories we tell, and with so many game dev friends of my own, I see you and know how disparaging and disheartening this space can feel.

So, thank you. Thank you from the people who have made life long friends through @playnewworld, thank you from the people who are so humbled by how guys won't accept defeat in the face of critics, and thank you from everyone who has played New World and felt at home. People are right that the bugs, the mistakes, the community-hated changes etc etc can feel pretty damn bad, but you know what'd be worse? If the New World dev team laid down and said 'ok we'll give up'.
