I keep thinking how in the ER when someone rolls in gasping "I can't breathe, I can't breathe" we all jump to our feet and run to assess and help them. It's #1 and 2 of our "ABC's" - Airway, Breathing, Circulation - that comes before any other concern.
This is horrifying and gut-wrenching and everyone should watch it. This is murder, not arrest, and I shudder to think of how often things like this happen off camera. #BlackLivesMatter https://t.co/7XN9pSayhU
TIL about the HINTS test for distinguishing acute vestibular syndrome from central causes of vertigo. In appropriate patients (acute persistent vertigo, nystagmus, normal neuro exam), negative test was better at ruling out stroke than MRI in first 24-48h. https://t.co/88DybE5kYK
Interesting commentary on a more nuanced approach to d-dimer testing for PE—risk-adjusted cutoffs associated with a significant decrease in CTPA utilization for Wells low risk patients.
Walking the Line from Research to Practice Ep2.0: The PEGeD Trial
Using a clinical adjusted d-dimer in wells low risk patients...ZERO VTE were missed at 90d
CTPA decreased by ≈20% with PEGeD strategy vs standard care
