Don't let awful people co-opt and hollow out the true meaning of words as part of their ongoing truth-laundering exercise.

I support evidence-based healthcare - the ongoing refinement of healthcare using research and evidence to effect improved patient-centric outcomes. This does not mean conversion quackery or ideologically driven denial of treatment. Evidence-based care should mean what it is, not what bigots want you to think it means.

I am pro-life - I am in favour of life and measures we can take to preserve life and quality of life both on an individual and global scale. This does not mean individual people's bodily autonomy should be subordinate to hateful doctrine which places collections of cells above people; her body, her life, her choice! Pro-life should mean what it is, not what bigots want you to think it means.

I am a feminist - I maintain that intersectional equality should apply to and include all people, and that marginalised demographics are victims of patriarchical, colonialist oppression. This does not mean I believe in an Original Sin-containing metaphysical essence that lives in your chromosomes and constrains you from the moment of conception. Feminism should mean what it is, not what bigots want you to think it means.

These words all meant something real and true, once, rather than the euphemisms hate has turned them into. Hate hijacks and infects. It poisons meaning. It transforms the world into something hostile and harmful. Every far-right euphemism is a land-grab; an attempt to claim and subvert the meaning of innocent words until they become part of the apparatus of harm.

Wanting incongruent children to have access to treatment that we are steadily improving and refining does not mean you are opposed to evidence-based care.

Wanting people to have bodily autonomy does not mean you are opposed to life.

Wanting all people to be free from oppression does not mean you are opposed to feminism.

They keep doing this - stealing words and phrases to launder their meaning. 'Gender Critical'. 'Sex Realist'. 'Evidence Based'. 'Pro-Life'. 'Sex-Based Rights'. 'Terrorism'. 'Protest'. 'Police'. 'Security'. 'Patriot'.

It keeps working because the media controls the topic and always uses whatever new term has been devised to obfuscate meaning. The intention is to make hate seem like the default, reasonable choice.

I support evidence based care.
I am pro-life.
I am a feminist.

These words do not belong to fascists. Do not surrender to them.
