Nobody falls in love with someone thinking —
“This person will never fully let me in.”
It doesn’t work that way.
Emotionally unavailable people are rarely cold from the beginning. They are often charming, intense, deeply interesting. They give enough — just enough — to make you believe that the fullness is coming. That if you’re patient enough, loving enough, understanding enough — the walls will eventually come down.
So you wait.
And love them.
And wait some more.
And slowly — without fully realizing it’s happening — the waiting begins to cost you things you didn’t budget for.
I got the Pfizer COVID vaccine in 2020 (2 shots), then a booster a few months later.
At the time, I thought I was doing the right thing. There was pressure from work, family, and I wanted to protect my kids.
Not long after the booster, I developed severe hives all over my body. They lasted an entire year.
Every doctor told me it wasn’t related to the vaccine. But in my gut, I felt like it was.
Then things got heavier.
My ex-wife, who got the same shots, was diagnosed with lung cancer at 37. She never smoked a day in her life. Thankfully, she beat it.
That same year, at 45, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I beat it too.
We’re both healthy now, thank God.
But both of us getting cancer within the same timeframe has never sat right with me.
I can’t prove anything. I know most doctors would disagree.
But this is my experience.
I’m not anti-vaccine. I just don’t blindly trust like I used to.
If nothing else, I hope this makes people think twice and ask more questions.
