This most dangerous Bill would turbo-charge the draconian powers of the eSafety Commissar, by establishing a Ministry of Truth with her as the Censorship Czar

She would have the sole power to determine what is ‘misinformation" - by an objective standard of what is she determines is "reasonably verifiable" as misinformation.

Further, she’d have the power to tell X how they should run their business and how people should be censored by X and have their freedom of speech suppressed.

Where there is no approved misinformation code in force, an approved misinformation code that is in force is deficient or there are exceptional and urgent circumstances, the ACMA (the eSafety Commissar at the Australia Communications & Media Authority) may determine a standard

And her powers would enable her to censor political debate.

For example;

If you questioned the dogma that the covid vaccines were "safe & effective", you could be censored under clause 14.1 (b) if the Ministry of Truth determined that this could for cause "harm to the efficacy of preventative health measures in Australia"

If you argued that using coercion to force someone to undergo an experimental medical intervention was a breach of human rights - you could be censored under clause 14.1 (b) if the Ministry of Truth determined that this could for cause "harm to public health"

If you opposed Net Zero and argued it was a scam and that expenditure on solar/wind was wasteful - under clause 14.1 (f) if the Ministry of Truth determined that this could for cause "imminent harm to the Australian economy" you’d be censored.

If you criticised the Big Banks or warned citizens risked being debanked for their poltical views (as happened to Nigel Farage in the UK) - you could be censored under clause 14.1 (f) if the Ministry of Truth determined that this could for cause "harm to public confidence in the banking system’

If you said it was child abuse for biological men to satisfy their fetishes by trick babies to suck on their nipple pretending it was breast-feeding - you could be censored under clause 14.1 (c) if the Ministry of Truth determined that this was "vilification of a group in Australian society distinguished by gender identity"

If you accused the Australian Electoral Commission of corruption for using their powers to persecute politicians with frivolous and malicious legal suits - you could be censored under clause 14.1 (a) if the Ministry of Truth determined this could "harm the integrity of a Commonwealth electoral process"

The Treasury Laws Amendment (Consumer Data Right) Bill 2022 has finally come up for a vote after more than a year of efforts by One Nation to push it forward.

This legislation grants everyday Australians the right to know who is accessing their data, to refuse permission for its use, and to request its deletion.  The protections in this Bill will make it easier for individuals, class actions and regulators to take legal action against companies that abuse your data under the Digital ID Act.  One Nation supports the Bill, believing these protections are long overdue.

However, there are still significant gaps. For example, the Bill lacks provisions for auditing data companies to ensure they are handling data responsibly.  As it stands, the Bill depends on whistleblowers to come forward.
