The store will not provide bags, which could be used as garbage bags, but they will sell me boxes of plastic garbage bags! They will also sell me infinite gadgets made of (and wrapped in) plastic, AND a reusable bag at checkout, made of...?

A 5 ring circus story. 🎪

1. Local grocer eliminates plastic grocery bags at checkout.

2. Offers paper bags instead at .25c or their own “reusable” bag for .40c…everyone buys paper bags.

3. They remove paper bags as an option because no one is buying their reusable bags. So now you have to use reusable. They no longer will offer paper bags citing “costs”

4. All in-store plastic shopping baskets are now missing. They have been “hijacked” by customers who now use them to take their groceries home instead of using bags. Store will not replace shopping baskets because of this.

5. Most produce at store now in plastic bags.

@robertlufkinmd I would like to know some doctors and other people who have successfully overcome obesity, and so can understand the barriers faced by overweight people. A naturally skinny person can't just say "do as I do." It's not the same situation.

@MrZachG Rules don't mean prison, they mean parameters. Imagine driving without rules (obey lights, how to merge, pass on left, etc). The right rules give us more freedom, not less, including freedom from fear and freedom to achieve potential. It's a mindset.

@MrZachG Students evaded consequences. I had students use cell phones as a tool but they also continued to be a distraction esp for the least engaged. Your system supports Ss who need it most AND allows Ss who want to learn to do so bc teacher can teach instead of handling behaviour.

@GiftedTawk I think it's fair! Criticism is only constructive if it fits your circumstances. Why not ask "would you be willing to visit my classroom to show me what this looks like?" If Gordon Ramsay critiqued my cooking, surely he could demo better in my kitchen and w/my tools + budget?

Over 90% of Finnish teachers remain in education for entirety of career. We don’t have 90% make it through one year. They also teach 50% less hours with remainder for planning, multiple recesses, autonomy at school level, limited teacher eval's & are treated like professionals!

@nicknorwitz I started years ago to keep my husband company when he was trying to lose weight, found that I did better! Lost 5-10lbs without trying, stabilized there. No need to snack every few hours. My 3 "rules": no grains, avoid sugars (occasional treats), eat noon-8pm.
