Over 15 years later and proof-of-stake, the far superior cryptocurrency technology, has not displaced inefficient proof-of-work bitcoin. Sad!
Excellent example of tech lock-in and path dependency. The better technology often loses to the first mover!

With even halfway decent policies you could easily have data center construction pulling electricity prices way down and get a lot of local and state tax revenue with no pollution.
But narrow-mindedness, corporatism, and degrowth are the dominant forces of today.
I believe the defining feature of our time is Hollowness. Everything feels hollow; politics, media, news, community, cities, work, life. It's performative and perfunctory.
What can be the solution? Humanize, strive, care about things, believe in things. Try. I want you to try.
Through most of American history newspapers and the press were overtly partisan, editorializing things.
Journalism today is returning to that norm. It's unfortunate, it's a loss, but it's not unprecedented.
The mistake would be pretending journalism will remain objective.
@darreldrowland The beautiful irony of the strangling regulatory environment "environmentalists" helped to create.
Of course if you asked half of those people they'd also oppose solar farms. "Why can't we just cover buildings in solar?", smh...
I'm THE MOST pro-environment candidate in Ohio. Pollution is bad for our health, global warming is damaging to our economy, and nature should be conserved for future generations.
And I will tell you most "environmentalists" don't care about any of that.
@SceneSallard@karenkasler Get onboard with UBI and the future of work. There's no resisting change, it's just directing it to the social optimum.
Journalism, like a lot of things, is going to become a profession we choose to pursue with our wealth, not for livelihood. Like open source software.
The Ohio United Party and the Community First Party of New Hampshire have completed an agreement to work together to support efforts in both states to have a new party with ballot access by 2028.
There's a difference between fraud and inefficiency. In practice and in appearance, it's probably often not that different. It's a murky space and that makes it difficult.
We want to spend money better. And everyone can be held accountable for that.
@AndrewYang Don't be an independent, be a proud Forwardist! You founded the party, be part of it, lead it. That's what you owe to everyone who has put in the hours and work to build the party.
"fully fund" is a great empty political promise because it means literally whatever a voter wants it to mean.
Something you should look out for when you listen to politicians (I've probably said it myself).
I have nothing especially against AI but I see AI generated text everywhere in politics. It's not doing the grunt work, or cleaning and summarizing, it's coming up with the thoughts and rhetoric whole.
One, it's repetitive. But two, it's bad for democracy. Have your own ideas!
