A Faithful Father in the Faith at 85

On behalf of my family, I join millions of believers and well-wishers across the world in celebrating your 85th birthday, Papa Kumuyi.

For decades, you have exemplified integrity, humility, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel. Through your teachings, leadership, and personal example, you have inspired and transformed countless lives across generations and nations.

As you mark this milestone, I pray that Almighty God grants you continued good health, renewed strength, and greater wisdom to keep impacting lives and advancing His Kingdom.

TODAY IN HISTORY:

6th June 1941: William Folorunso Kumuyi is born in Erin-Ijesa, Osun State. He would later become the founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry situated at Gbagada, Lagos.

6th June 1859: The first secondary school in Nigeria founded by the Anglican mission, CMS Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos, starts with 25 boys.

6th June 1844: English merchant George Williams founds the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) out of his London meetings for prayer and Bible reading. It was established for the purpose of putting Christian values into practice by developing a healthy body, mind, and spirit.

6th June 1870: Anna Hinderer passes on to glory. She had served as a missionary in Nigeria until ill-health forced her to return to England. Despite her health condition while in England, she continued to work among factory girls and children of the poor. She was aged 43.

6th June 1903: Brother Bakht Singh is born in Punjab, India. He was an Indian evangelist regarded as one of the most well-known Bible teachers and pioneers of the Indian Church movement. He passed on to glory aged 97.

6th June 2005: University of Mkar (formerly Hilltop University) is licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on the 6th day of June 2005 to operate as a private university. University of Mkar is owned by the Church of Christ in Sudan among the Tiv (NKST).

6th June 2021: Rev. Dr. Stephen Akinola goes home. He was the General Superintendent of Redemption Ministries Worldwide, based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He founded Redemption Ministries Worldwide after resigning from his position as Pastor at Deeper Christian Life Ministry in January 1987. He was born on 4th March 1953.
