I'm so excited! My husband has received news that the peace treaty with Great Britain has been signed and the war for American Independence is over. He is going to arrive at Mount Vernon, he promismed me that he would be home in time for spending Christmas with us.#HistoryatVasco

This is a letter which my husband @GeorgeW77090553 has sent me, this brief note is an introduction for a Mr. James Brown, who was traveling south, to me at Mount Vernon. It was a way for George to assure me that the bearer was a gentleman. #HistoryatVasco

Good news!!! The american forces defeated the British army under General Hohn Burgoyne at Saratoga. Burgoyne had intended to split the new country in half, cutting off New England from the rest of the country but failed.
