Today, I had the honor of receiving the Managing Director of Shelter Afrique, Thierno Habib Hann on a courtesy call to the Ministry of Works and Housing as part of a working visit to Ghana.
This follows Ghana’s election to the board of Shelter Afrique Development Bank a few weeks ago in Rwanda.
We discussed the urgent need for sustainable financing mechanisms to address Ghana’s significant housing deficit.
Moving away from traditional government-funded models, we are exploring global financing instruments to bridge the housing gap. I am particularly excited about integrating Ghana’s National Home Ownership Fund with successful international models like Shelter Afrique’s insurance bonds initiative in Nigeria.
Ghana’s recent achievement of securing a seat on Shelter Afrique’s Board of Directors will enhance our influence and attract resources to support affordable housing initiatives. We remain committed to leveraging this position to advocate for policies that benefit our housing sector.
Together, we can close the 1.8 million housing unit deficit, stimulate job creation, and drive economic growth.
Earlier today, I paid a working visit to the Ghana Hydrological Authority. It was an enlightening experience meeting with the dedicated staff and reviewing the ongoing projects they are supervising.
During an emergency staff durbar, I received valuable insights from the team on how we can further improve hydrological services across the nation. I am grateful for their input and commend them for the significant strides made so far.
Strengthening the Ghana Hydrological Authority is a top priority for the Ministry of Works and Housing in 2024. This will empower the Authority to enhance flood control mechanisms, improve drainage works, and complete crucial coastal protection projects to safeguard lives and properties.
Gushegu, Karaga and Nanton constituencies gave me a rousing welcome yesterday when I visited them as part of my constituency-focused nationwide campaign.
From chiefs to opinion leaders to the youth, it is increasingly clear that my resolve to mount an issues-based campaign is the right path to success.
Indeed, it is Possible!
I was in Tatale/Sanguli, Zabzugu and Yendi constituencies on Saturday as part of my constituency-focused campaign tour.
The energetic support of my vision for national development was most appreciated . Combining the fertile abilities of the youth and properly thought-through policies and programmes will surely take Ghana to the next level.
Indeed, it is possible!
I joined Hon @BoakyeAsenso , Minister for @ministryofroads and Highways to inspect progress of work on several roads in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Juaboso District and Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal.
