Finding Peace.
You do not have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.
Finding peace when things are chaotic is not about eliminating the chaos. It is about creating enough stability within yourself that the chaos does not control you.
One of the hardest lessons many of us learn is that peace and certainty are not the same thing. We often tell ourselves, "Once this problem is solved, once this conflict ends, once this decision is made, then I'll be at peace." But life has a way of replacing one challenge with another. If peace depends on circumstances, it will always be temporary.
Instead, peace often comes from narrowing your focus. When everything feels overwhelming, stop trying to carry tomorrow, next month, and next year all at once. Ask yourself:
What can I control today?
What is the next right step?
What absolutely does not need my attention right now?
Sometimes peace is found in action. Sometimes it is found in accepting that there is nothing more you can do at this moment.
For people who spend their lives advocating, leading, serving, or fighting for causes bigger than themselves, there is another challenge: believing that resting means quitting. It doesn't. Even warriors need to set down their armor occasionally. Rest is not surrender. Reflection is not weakness. Taking a breath between battles is often what allows you to continue the mission tomorrow.
Peace can also come from remembering your "battle cries and trinkets of hope"—those reminders that carried you through difficult seasons before. A favorite quote, a trusted friend, a faith tradition, a service dog resting at your feet, a memory of a victory that once seemed impossible. These things remind us that we have survived hard days before.
The goal is not to feel strong every moment. The goal is to trust that your strength will return, even when today you feel tired.
As the old saying goes:
Sometimes, finding peace in chaos is nothing more—and nothing less—than putting one foot in front of the other until the storm passes.

Boo’s new cub Perl.
She will be nearly 4 months old now, just look at that nose go and look at that bottle brush tail.
I hope we have a couple of years seeing her grow up as we have with the other cubs 😍🦡🐾🐾❤️

This is Arlo. He was on a walk when he found a missing and injured dog by following a trail of blood. We're awarding Arlo and his keen nose with our highest honor, a 15/10.
