The government of Uganda has approved a $113 million investment to acquire ten new aircraft for Uganda Airlines, increasing its fleet size to 16.
The expansion is part of efforts to strengthen regional connectivity, boost tourism, and support trade. Uganda Airlines, relaunched in 2019, currently operates a smaller fleet serving regional and select international routes.
Officials say the additional aircraft will enhance both passenger and cargo operations, positioning the airline for growth in Africaβs competitive aviation market. Analysts, however, note that long-term success will depend on efficient operations and strong route strategy.
