Lono Chouteau was among the best WR last season when he had 16TDs on 34 receptions. This season he bested those numbers to 878 Yards and 11TD’s. But this is not for his work as a receiver but his work as a DB. Last season Inderkum had one of the best defensive backfields in the area. They lost a lot of starters to graduation. Long had huge shoes to fill (he did play some CB on that special team last season as well). Well as the top CB Lono has done quite well. He uses his 6’4” frame to its maximum ability as he shuts down his side of the field. He has 3 picks and one returned 101 yards for a TD. Did I mention he is a punt returner and has one returned for a TD, and he actually punts himself, and quite well having 3 kicks inside the 20 and averages almost 40 yards per kick. Talk about an all-around athlete. He would have more picks and stats but smart teams don’t test him. I think he is just one of the best at this position in the area.
Issac Pierce had a fantastic season and is generally regarded as the best CB in the area. He has had 3 pick sixes this year. He had 2 punt returns for TD’s. With the impressive Womack as his DB partner teams can’t really throw away from him as much as Lono. He has 7 passes defensed. Pierce is super physical as a CB as well so he has 1.5 tackles for Loss and a caused fumbled (and recovery) to add to his stats sheet. He is supremely athletic, super fast and packs a lot of power in his small 5’9” frame. He helped lead Oak Ridge to a 2 seed in D1 with a victory over Rocklin. And to think this kid is just a sophomore.
