I haven't worked out yet how it works, but I'm hoping to find my friends at Mastodon, where you can find me under @[email protected]. I like the look of the urbanists group, who are into cycling and thinking about improving life in cities, public transport etc.
Something for the weekend: a (rather long) piece in @Cyclingnewsfeed celebrating women's cycling records, for International Women's Day. Grab yourself a cup of tea and let me know who else you think I should have included. https://t.co/CeYhZzXti1
6th story down, on the New York Times' Middle East section. "Some aid workers killed in Gaza were shot multiple times". I don't know what's worse. The crime itself, or the way it's represented, mis-represented or not even reported on, by the so-called newspapers of record.
If you care about humanity, if you would rather not live in a world where it's OK to dehumanise others and commit impromptu executions of health workers, and where newspapers don't consider such crimes as news, please read this and share it with your MP. https://t.co/c229rwbPed
It emerged today that Israel summarily executed 15 paramedics and aid workers and threw their bodies into a mass grave. Where is the outrage? Who is even reporting on this horror? The @guardian is the only UK publication. I've scrolled through US, French and German newspapers
@guardian@washingtonpost@newyorktimes@lemondelive@lefigaro@DIEZEIT@faznet They systematically executed first responders, going to rescue wounded civilians, in clearly marked vehicles, including a UN vehicle. Then they also buried the vehicles to bury the evidence. And it's not even front page news. I have no words.
Nuclear weapons are a profound and existential threat to humanity.
Instead of investing in weapons of mass destruction, we should be investing in our schools, hospitals and housing to ensure everyone can lead a happy and healthy life.
That is what real security means.
“My challenge is I have a strong desire for the Tories to lose. The only party that can beat them is Labour. But my hearts not in it.”
@carysafoko “yeah, we cannot expect decency or compassion from them, So the question is: how do we organise?” @over_under_pod_
@ByDonkeys “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.” (George Orwell, Animal Farm)
@ByDonkeys Brilliant! Now please do on one greedy Keir Starmer and his neo Tory clique's systematic destruction of the reputations and careers of anyone who threatens his parasitic hollowing out of Labour values. https://t.co/zFjprTNsq3
