@clhubes The Maryland Ice Cream Trail is a nice way to plan those day trips, when you’re ready. Pick one of the cow-to-cone farms and then find an activity nearby!
@lindaholmes I also made these today! I was confused by “Bake until lightly golden at the edges and dry and set in the center,” as the middles did not seem set for a long time, so I think I ended up over baked and quite crunchy. Are yours still a bit soft?
@TVMcGee I have also become this guy. Only Connect, Taskmaster, Would I Lie to You, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Big Fat Quiz of Everything. An occasional QI, though I’m trying not to get sucked into it. Anything else I need to try?
@PirateQueenKate I bought one on Amazon and replaced it with the help of a neighbor. If you’re adventurous, there might be you tube videos with ideas...
@NicoleBryner@heyshaelyn I don’t have a strong feeling on this or know if a particular rule off hand. I do agree though that “quite likely” feels more sure than “pretty likely,” or at least more formal.
@NicoleBryner@heyshaelyn One contestant said “like,” which was ruled incorrect. They were looking for “some.” “Some 50 miles...” After the break, they ruled in favor of “like” as well.
@NicoleBryner@heyshaelyn Relatedly, in an Adverbs category on Jeopardy last night (in which ‘pretty’ was one of the answers), one clue was “This 4-letter word is an adverb when found before a number to mean “about”, as in “we had to drive ____ 50 miles to get there”
@TVMcGee Lost is my fall pandemic binge because...why not 🤷🏻♀️I’ve just met this guy. Well, they’ve just come back from the balloon. Interested to see more!
@wayword We decided it was more accurately “sitting down at the piano and twiddling around to find something that sounds good.” We still “sit down at the piano” when we’re making plans together. @bryn_chandis@NicoleBryner
@wayword Years ago, friends and I decided it was unacceptable that “playing it by ear” is used to mean essentially ‘make it up as you go along,’ when in music, you already know the tune.
