Did you know that research over the last 10 to 20 years has shown that anywhere between 5% and 39% of people who have Down’s syndrome will also have autism? This #AutismAwarenessDay we're celebrating by resharing Alex and Hannah's story...highlighting how personalised support can make all the difference.

@IrnBruCarnival ASN session - how utterly disappointing yet again! No capping numbers, huge queues, noisy and staff unaware of any ASN needs. Allowing huge number of walk ins. My son really struggled with the queues and niece had to leave as she was overwhelmed. Waste of money

‘The status quo is not a victory for choice but a tragedy for the diminishing Down’s community. MPs have a rare opportunity to fight for the survival of their fellow human beings. I only hope they will be brave enough to do it’

Dominic Lawson writes movingly @thetimes re @LiamFox amendment to allow equality when a baby’s found to have Down’s syndrome before birth:
I take this personally. I am the parent of a 28-year-old woman with Down’s syndrome.”
“she leads a meaningful life”

[Channel 4 News @Channel4News]

“Surely we cannot accept… that people with Down’s syndrome are second class citizens.”

Foetuses with Down’s syndrome can be aborted up to the point of birth, but Conservative MP Liam Fox says he will table an amendment to change this to 24 weeks and asks for the PM's support.
