@JaydeRobertson5 Wow! What a great short clip to show students the impact of environmental actions. You could work with the community to plant more trees further away from the water.
When exploring the history & culture of another language group, it is important for students to first develop a sense of self so that they can connect their own cultural identity with others such as the Awabakal People as explored in my unit #UoNTeach#globalperspective#identity
@Eduspokesperson @JapingkaGallery What an amazing website with so many different ideas for teachers. I will be sure to show my class some of the different Australian Aboriginal Artwork on here when introducing my culture unit. Thanks for sharing.
Whilst completing a unit on local Aboriginal history/culture, I have realised that including a community-based project is key. By giving students these opportunities it provides them with authentic, contextualised teaching & learning that is connected to the real world. #UoNTeah
As educators it is vital and up to us to incorporate #21stcenturyskills into our teaching and learning activities so that we can equip students with the essential lifelong skills needed for life and work in the 21st Century (Microsoft Partners in Learning, 2012). #UoNTeach
Being aware of the local Aboriginal language in your community is vital and can allow students to better understand the history & heritage of the area. This map was used in my unit to teach students about their local language group - Awabakal #UoNTeach#Idenitity#language
The integration of ICT in your teaching and learning activities is crucial to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for the 21st Century (NESA, 2019). Here is a list of ways to use technology in your classroom #UoNteach#21stcenturyskills https://t.co/kJZQ7mCoC8
ICT capability supports and enhances student learning and is embedded in all areas of the NSW curriculum. How would you incorporate ICT into a Stage 1 Aboriginal Culture unit focusing on Aboriginal people's connection to land? #UoNTeach#ICT#Aboriginal#NSWgeneralcapabilities
Developing meaningful relationships with your local Aboriginal Community & AECG, and seeking their involvement in education programs not only provides authentic learning but enhances students intercultural understanding (Shipp, 2013)#UoNTeach#CommunityEngagement#culture#assets
@tstewart973@nswaecg Wow! What an amazing and worthwhile opportunity to help enrich our knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Australia's cultural heritage. Definitely something I will be looking into when I'm out teaching.
Planning a unit on Aboriginal Culture with an excursion to Glenrock State Conservation Area. The big picture focuses of cultural diversity and local histories/geographies both make good links. What are your thoughts on what I should focus on and why? #UoNTeach#Aboriginalculture
Currently brainstorming ways in which a bush tucker garden/learning area can become a community based project focusing on local history and ATSI histories & cultures? Getting the students and community to design the garden together could be one possible way. Any others? #UoNTeach
@Lindle98192700 No I haven't which is why I wanted to include this sacred site in my unit so that I could expose students to different experiences. Check out the school excursions offered in the Glenrock area on the website below it might help with your planning. https://t.co/ro4K9rLzaN
Glenrock State Conservation Area has a large amount of Aboriginal cultural heritage. Taking our students on an excursion here would be a great way to teach them about the local culture, importance and connection of this area to the Awabakal people. What's your thoughts?

@MrCrookUoN Wow! Thanks for sharing this amazing resource! I love how it provides a range of multimedia content forms so that students of all learning styles can be actively engaged in the lesson.
@Aboriginal_Lit This is a great interactive resource to use with students of any age and to enforce the importance of language. So helpful that it also comes with teachers notes. Thanks for sharing! @Aboriginallanguage #UoNTeach
Service learning is a great way to actively involve students in experiences with the community. An idea for an Aboriginal Culture unit is to invite Aboriginal elders to the school to teach students about the local culture, but how might the students give back? Any ideas?#UONTeach
