Social media only shows us what we want to see rather than the whole picture. This means people are going into elections without all the information they need making them unjust. In turn, this negatively impacts democracy as a whole

Considering how much is posted on social media every single day, I would say platforms are doing a good job of stopping the spread of misinformation. By restricting/deleting posts and spreading news from reliable sources, platforms are doing the best they can.

Recent posts have reported that Italy revised data claiming that they actually had very few Covid-19 related deaths. This was in fact fake news. This can easily become an issue because people may use this to spread more misinformation regarding the pandemic.

The board, along with Facebook’s AI, has however received quite a bit of criticism. People have claimed that Facebook only created the board because they cannot find a proper way to monitor content due to evidence of this in the past.

Facebook, as stated in the content, uses an oversight board. This board is made up of high-ranking individuals who take on the responsibility of reviewing content and determining whether it is allowed on the site or not.

Depending on how it is being used, social media surveillance can be either good or bad. When used properly it can really help people but when used incorrectly, it can have a real impact on people. Finding the most ethical way to use surveillance is very important.

I was able to find on google ad settings and I would say the profile accurately represented me. It listed my interests, age, marital status, etc. I really have no problem with this and have come to terms with the fact that social media has the power figure us out.

I'm honestly not surprised by any of the data being collected by Snapchat. Everything I thought the app would collect was collected. I also think it is a good idea to allow users to access their data to keep tabs on their on social media usage.
