This mayfly (Chiloporter eatoni) is the only surviving species of the subfamily Chiloporterinae. Endemic to Patagonia, this carnivorous nymph can be found in well oxygenated rivers and large streams.

Yes this i@age (and most of my photography) is done through photo stacking. That is the only way to get full clarity on the morphological details/microsculpture. For lighting I use a mix of diffusers and condensers (most of my own creation) to illuminate the insect...
