When you think about how your food gets to the table, do you even think about grain bins? Most of us don’t. Farm to table is a long road. This rice goes through planting, growing, harvesting, storage, hauling, milling, packaging, to the store shelf and finally to your house… it’s a long road. There are many steps, by many people, working hard behind the scenes to get that food to your plate.
There’s much more to farming than meets the eye.

7 years ago today, Judy, (mom) had open heart surgery. We didn’t see it coming. It was a scary time but she did amazing! She was brave! She’s still brave and today we celebrate her heart birthday! WARNING… vulnerable, honest, post alert.
Some days this is what farming looks like.
After spending time, money and energy planting a crop, and then watching torrential rains come to potentially wash it all away… after staying awake all night long watching the weather, rainfall accumulation, severe threats… then leaving early in the morning to check the water levels, the tractor fuel, the pumps… then coming home to watch the radar again.
Jeremy is just one of many farmers doing that today. Our entire crew is feeling the weight of this weather event. Our neighbors are watching it too. We have no idea what the next days will look like as the waters rise.
Our entire state is suffering today. People’s homes have been damaged, flooding is all over the state… prayers today for everyone struggling. This is hard.
