An actual disgrace. £423 for the use of a website and *MANDATORY* portfolio. These college fees are scandalous. Trainees are struggling financially due to years of pay erosion and this is simply tone deaf from a college allegedly trying to retain a workforce. #shame@rcgp
On top of the multiple hours we put in extra in our own time. The below inflation pay ‘rises’ for a decade. We also have to fund our own exams to progress… 😣 @SteveBarclay doctors should not have to fund this! #NHS#NHSStrikes#JuniorDoctors
All the more reason for us to lower training costs. #boycottISCPfee is working to end you paying to work. We are building to big action next year where we can take away some of the cost of training. #BOTAAC22
Find our cards scattered around the conference at #BOTAAC22 take them back to your hospitals, give them to your friends and join the conversation about making surgical training financially fair. #boycottISCPfee#payingtowork
Here at #BOTAAC22 looking forward to gauging the opinions of trainees. Paying £2000+ so you can submit mandatory WBAs and work during training is rediculous. #boycottISCPfee
Surgical trainee conferences we are coming to you. We will be at #BOTAAC22 spreading the word. Find us at more throughout 2023! #boycottISCPfee#payingtowork.
@JCST_Surgery I have just spent several hours updating my CV followed by my ISCP portfolio, only to then spend equal time typing it all into your word template for my TPD/ARCP. The triplication of effort has given me repetitive strain injury! 😮💨 @IscPfee
This is the reality of post-graduate exams. My 2yr old daughter staging a “sit in” as a protest for me needing to revise for #FRCS today rather than spend the time with her that she deserves. The impact of taking exams as a “grown up” is widespread and understated. #orthotwitter
For the 5th month running, I’ve been paid incorrectly, still on the wrong point of the pay scale despite numerous emails and having submitted all appropriate paperwork back in early April. Head of HR is predictably not in the office this afternoon to address my query. Crippling.
I already pay a fee to the JCST to oversee my training programme.
I've paid for my own exams & a significant proportion of my professional courses.
I do my own CPD admin, & (for their ease) organise my CPD activity according to the format req by these regulatory bodies.

Now bear in mind that I already pay a fee (£260/year) to the Joint Committee on Surgical Training. The JCST "is responsible for developing and maintaining standards across surgical training, in line with the General Medical Council's (GMC) regulatory framework".

GMC fees, a🧵
This summer I had to pay £452 to be added to the GMC Specialist Register (an admin process, on top of the £420/year registration fee).
I FOI'd the GMC to ask how they spend that £452. They don't hold the information to give me a breakdown...

August is such an expensive month. So many fees and memberships to pay. And on top of all that ISCP comes rolling on by wanting TWO HUNDRED and SIXTY POUNDS. Every year. Every bloody year. Why do trainees have to foot this bill. #boycottISCPfee
