India ranks 105 among 127 countries in Global Hunger Index, ahead Pakistan- some consolation indeed!Child wasting rate at 18.7% is highest globally. Child stunting rate at 35.5% and undernourishment at 13.7% are also high. Only infant mortality rate at 2.9 % shows improvement.
An Irish MP Thomas Gould breaks down while narrating what the Palestinians in Gaza are made to suffer by the Israeli govt. “I hope Netanyahu burns in hell”! He says
There should be a movement to boycott Vistara. They have become a tool in the polarizing tactics of Hindutva forces by naming vegetarian as Hindu meals and non-vegetarian as Muslim meals. Only 44% of Hindus are vegetarian. What choice does the new menu give toChristians? Madness!
The evidence against SEBI chairperson is piling up — “SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch did not recuse herself from Adani probe, says board member,” well-researched article in https://t.co/OXVDB6l0Lf https://t.co/Mn2QrXoXA6
The loot of crony capitalism under the Modi decade nearly crossed ₹20 lakh crores of loan write offs.
The govt continues to parrot that write offs do not mean that loans are waived, but banks pursue to recover them. The truth is that out of ₹10 lakh crores write offs, the recovery was to the tune of ₹1.84 lakh crore or mere 18 per cent during the last 5 years. What is going on, clear and simple, is the loot of people’s savings deposited in bank accounts.

The world has probably never seen a head of govt so brazenly propagating such falsification.
If India is a food surplus country, why are levels of hunger, malnourishment, child mortality and anemia rising?
On the Global Hunger Index, India ranks 111 out of 125.
Our own NFHS-5 data shows increase in anemia with 57% women affected and number of states where anemic women were more than half the population rose from 21 to 25.
For information of those who wanted to write off the Left in Kerala after set back in last Lok Sabha election: Of 49 seats in yesterday’s local govt bye-election LDF wins 23 seats,UDF19,BJP3 and independent 4.UDF and BJP seats decline. LDF captures a district panchayat from UDF.
The myth that India will be the third largest global economy due to Modi, needs to be demolished. Irrespective of who leads the govt in India, given the current statistical trends, by 2027 India will overtake Japan and Germany. At current levels of growth, India’s GDP in 2027 will be 38% more than in 2023(primarily due to our relatively much larger population) while Japan and Germany will be 15% more.
People’s prosperity is better captured by Per Capita GDP numbers. India stands at 142 in current global rankings. At $2,600, our Per Capita GDP is the lowest amongst the top 10 economies. It is substantially lower than the countries India has overtaken such as UK ($47,000), Italy ($37,000) and Brazil ($10,000). Notwithstanding Modi’s boasting, India’s growth momentum has considerably slowed down under his government. Between 2004 and 2014 India’s GDP grew by a total of 183 per cent. Between 2014 and 2023 India’s GDP grew by only 83 per cent. Further, in 2027, India’s GDP, though third largest in the world, would be 1/6th of the US (gap of $ 26 trillion) and 1/5th of China (gap of $ 20 trillion).
Settling an issue of longstanding contention, a 7-judge Supreme Court bench held that sub-classification of the Scheduled Castes is permissible. The SC also permitted separate quotas for more backward SC categories.
Governments, both Union and states, as directed by the SC, must now take all measures to bring backward sections of the SCs into the fold of socially affirmative action.

Overall, this budget is aimed at further enriching the rich and impoverishing the poor. It refused to consider any proposal of wealth or inheritance tax on the super-rich of India, neither any relief on indirect tax burden on people.
On top of growing child malnutrition during the Modi decade. India now has the world’s third-highest number of children unvaccinated for measles in 2023, with 16 lakh missing the vaccine, trailing only Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to WHO-UNICEF estimates. India is among 10 countries contributing to 55% of unvaccinated children globally.
The Lancet estimates that Palestinian death toll in Gaza from Israeli invasion could well be 1.86 lakhs,5 times the official count .The civilians massacred would well be nearly 8 % of the total population.Genocide seems to be the final solution of Israel to Palestinian problem.
This India Ratings Survey shows that the impact of Modi’s triple disaster - DeMon, GST rollout & gross pandemic mishandling - has led to a worse economic loss than what the NSO said this June.
63 lakh informal enterprises shutdown between 2015-16 & 2022-23 with 1.6 Cr jobs lost.
Informal sector contributes nearly 45% of GDP and employs 75% of workforce.
Modi destruction of economy.
Salute the people of France for defeating the far right & its politics of hatred, fear & social polarisation. They have shown the way on how a clear & determined Left can resist & defeat the global political rightward shift that threatens peace & harmony.
Hail Julian Assange, brilliant journalist, founder, publisher & editor of Wikileaks, whistle-blower, who “did what journalists do in free societies” — but in a path-breaking way, pioneering a new genre of truth-seeking, progressive, and hugely impactful journalism. Celebrate his freedom, which was atrociously denied him for more than 14 years by the U.K., the U.S., and some other western governments. It’s a joyful day for those who campaigned and fought for him and for Wikileaks in the media, in the public and political spheres, and in courts of law. But as The Hindu — which partnered with Wikileaks in the publication of dozens of articles based on the US Embassy India cables & then the U.S. Embassy Pakistan cables — concludes in its June 26, 2024 editorial, “Free Man”: “Yet, the fact that Mr Assange would be convicted for publishing state secrets is a setback for free speech. And the pursuit of a whistle-blower for over 14 years would remain a blot on western democracies, especially the U.K. and the U.S., forever.”
