Today, I share a metric that made all of us proud at @hunch_social! In a year's time, Hunch has generated a total of 32 million votes! To put this into context, the 2019 UK general election saw a total of 32 million votes, with the winning party securing 14 million.
A country like the UK sees such scale every five years, Hunch has matched it in just a year, growing at 30% month-on-month in terms of votes.
Hunch is capturing an exponentially high number of structured opinions from the GenZ. As businesses, institutions, and governments begin to leverage this rich pool of insights, we're poised to create an impact like never before.
I'm in Dubai at @token2049 this week, discussing the web3 point of view for Hunch and how we're thinking of a lot of things around:

Update on PlotX & Hunch (@TryPlotX and @hunch_social)
Last year we decided to build Hunch after a careful study of the state of the web3 ecosystem - tx cost, user experience, regulatory environment & on-ramping - not being ready for b2c applications like PlotX.
Today, Hunch is scaling pan-India, as we try to move on our mission of building a global opinion sharing app that enables millions of people to meet like-minded people, satisfy their curiosity, and build instant communities that solve problems. Some numbers before diving deeper -
- Top 30 app on App Store India, Top 50 app on Google Play Store India, as of Nov 23 in Social Category
- Total user base of 1M+ users, growing at 40% MoM over the last 6 months
- 15M total votes, 8M chat messages, 3M comments, in the last 10 months
All this without any financial incentive for the user while keeping the web3 ethos of anonymity at the core. No liquidity mining or APYs or speculation of any kind, yet seeing continued engagement driven by utility.
Hunch intended to solve all the problems we faced with PlotX, and it seems to have done that. We are able to acquire users easily, and globally. User experience neither requires wallet connections, nor on-ramping or bridging troubles. Regulations are extensive but clear, and that allows a small team like ours to comply.
In March 2023, I had suggested via my tweet that we may integrate PlotX with Hunch. We tried doing that. We experimented with the thought of building a prediction layer on top of Hunch, adding gamification incentives using tokens & NFTs, using Hunch as a top of funnel for PlotX.
However, every time we thought of ideas to integrate PlotX and Hunch, we were quick to realize that the integration will be a stretch that will deteriorate the user experience. Integrating PlotX with Hunch would have been a ‘skills-forward’ decision, that doesn’t necessarily help the user, but rather satisfies our own desires to link the two - which is often tempting, but not the right thing to do when strictly ‘thinking backwards’ about the user. Ultimately, we decided that Hunch and PlotX can only exist as two separate products, in their own ecosystems.
Today, PlotX continues to run business as usual with no new planned development. There are a lot of vectors - tx cost, user experience, regulatory environment, on-ramping - not in our control which the industry is trying to solve as a whole, but we continue to try to find opportunities that can help grow the PlotX ecosystem.
