Mani, MLA of Pennagaram in Dharmapuri district, presented first and second prizes to the Velampatti and Ilakiyampatti teams, respectively, for the cluster-level volleyball event held in Dharmapuri. He congratulated the #IshaGramotsavam teams and the participants for organizing and playing a fabulous game and conveyed his best wishes for a bright future.

He shared how wonderful it is to see the energy and spirit of rural youth being guided and focused in one direction, adding that sports are a great way to transform them into better individuals and harness their potential.

16th Isha Gramotsavam: Bharat's biggest rural sports festival

The women’s throwball competition was innaugurated by Mr. Thalavai Sundaram, former minister and the current MLA of Kanyakumari constituency. The presidents of Therur, Aralvaimozhi, and other town panchayats also joined the event.

Mr. Thalavai Sundaram expressed his joy at seeing so many women from rural parts of the district come together for a sports event and participate with energy and enthusiasm to win the game.

He thanked Isha Gramotsavam for creating such a big platform and hailed it as a great example of women, rural, and youth empowerment.

Isha Gramotsavam spans across 5 states and 1 Union Territory, featuring 4,858 teams and 43,144 players, including 10,311 women.

When we restore soil’s capacity to absorb and sequester water, we will not need to overexploit groundwater resources, especially for irrigation. When agricultural soil is enriched, it can retain enough moisture content to significantly reduce the dependence on groundwater for irrigation. Every extra green leaf we place on the planet will contribute to enhancing the water absorption capacity of soil. Healthy soil is quite literally the foundation for a stable planet. #SaveSoil. Damodar Reddy garu shared that he has been inspired by Gramotsavam conducting games for rural women and that he also intends to support and uplift rural women.
