Overall, this class has been a positive experience. I enjoyed learning about relevant topics. Class was always great and everything discussed was exciting and helpful. All topics were applicable to different aspects of life. #DCIM353McCormick@RUProfMcCormick
Something that will definitely stick with me from this class is the importance of online networking and keeping up with innovative tech. The only way to not get left behind in this society is to evolve alongside with it! #DCIM353McCormick
@rucatbahamondes Hello Cat! This is definitely a unique emerging technology that I think is not given much thought. Music streaming is an integral part of society, so any advancements would be revolutionary.
@Selztahry Hello Sumaya! I agree that electric vehicles will become a societal staple. As it becomes more affordable more people will turn towards it for its efficiency especially with gas prices on the rise. EVs are already becoming more common although they are fairly new.
@LoughCaitlin I totally agree Caitlin! At the current rate of technology rapidly integrating households, almost everything will be automated or controlled through tech.
An emerging digital technology prediction I have is that the automation of grocery stores. The pandemic expedited how grocery stores function, and the automation of it is already in the works. Grocery stores will be a new robotic, digitalized experience. #DCIM353McCormick
An important topic that I think will be on test 2 is horizontal/social surveillance. This is a behavior that is becoming typical in our culture. Marwick introduces Social surveillance as the usual online experience of "scanning" an individuals social media.

@meghaapatelll Hi Megha! This is definitely a vital topic in the class so I agree it'll probably be on the exam. The types of innovations are important to understand because there are key differences that differentiate sustaining and disruption.
@fianna31269780 I completely agree! I feel it will be like our class discussions: asking us to elaborate and what we think about the different disruptions in technologies and the impact it has.
@NoaDShaw Hi Noa! I definitely think this topic will be on the test, because good management is the only way new and disruptive technologies can thrive. So it is important to know what can cause them to fail.
An important concept for the test may be the difference between sustaining and disruptive innovations. There are key differences between the two. Such as the difference in cost, time, and types of firms. #DCIM353McCormick
@Hongwei_Cao_ Social media is definitely disrupted communication and social circumstances. This will definitely continue to change communication beyond what we can imagine. On a day to day we are seeing new innovations in social media. It'll be interesting how to see else it will impact us.
@JacindaNembhard This is definitely an emerging technology that we are seeing more and more of recently. It definitely applies to society too, and even more in the future. Great choice because it is a technology that got expedited because of the pandemic and will continue to evolve.
@itsDawsonZ Hi Dawson! Thats a really interesting and relevant emerging technology! It'll definitely disrupt society, its just a matter of how and when. Perhaps it will become the new normal sooner than we think.
Social media and technology allows people to build and maintain communities where people can connect. These networks become valuable long term, not just socially but professionally as well. It creates an image of you and your brand/business to a larger group. #DCIM353McCormick
@LoughCaitlin This article demonstrates how although communication is endless now, we miss something by having less face-to-face interactions. This will only continue to impact how we interact and social dynamics. But if everyone communicates online, will it be bad or just boring?
@Selztahry Since technology has made its way into all aspects of life, it has made people busy where reading an e-book is much more efficient. E-books have allowed people to enjoy reading once again because it's available anytime. But, I wonder how this will impact younger generations.
@MortelliteBella Cancel culture has definitely become a toxic social norm. After reading the article it is clear that although in many cases cancel culture holds people accountable, people must learn from their mistakes and other should be educated.
The age of digital technology has challenged societal norms. The way people communicated changed drastically to the point where the previous norm of calling is now considered out of the ordinary, but texting and reaching out on social media is the new norm.
