I am poem.
I am song.
I am a loaded sentence and a lyrical paragraph.
I am well-placed punctuation, necessary pauses, and the open space to breathe.
I am thought manifested and provoked.
I am real and fiction.
I am voice in rhythm.
Ask me if I write and the answer is yes.

Blouse & Skirt!! Thank you @bluebanyanbooks & my many teachers and supporters on this journey! Nothing like holding my debut poetry collection for the first time, knowing what it has taken from & given to me, knowing what a gift, what a love letter this is to me right now.

When some of the execs asked me why I made Luke Cage a bookworm, this was why. The majority of brothers I've known who have spent time inside, and aren't recidivist, come out bookworms. That's why Pop was a fan of Donald Goines, where Luke liked edgy Detective fiction (Mosley, Pelecanos, Price) re: Episode 102.
