In the name of Allah SWT, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful. I am pleased to announce that I have released the sum of five million naira to pay the tuition fees of Kaduna North students that attend Kaduna Polytechnic. This is a form of financial aid and we have been consistent with this since we got elected. The general public will recall that we named the fund after the inaugural Chairman of Kawo Ward, the late Mallam Musa Director. This brings the official figure of the fund to 10 million naira. Everyone is free to verify by checking our social media handles about how the last initiatives went. The beneficiaries of the first phase were also announced to the public. Since then, we have continued to pay the tuition fees of various students in the institution in isolation. I urge all eligible and interested residents regardless of party affiliation, ethnicity or religion to apply and follow the process to be stated by the ad hoc committee. I intend to announce the members and the terms of reference of the committee below. As is practice, the committee will work with the management of KADPOLY to ensure a swift and transparent process.

Update VI: In the name of Allah SWT, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful. A few days ago, I announced that in partnership with NEMA, we began our Palliative Initiative Program (PIP) for vulnerable citizens in Kaduna. The public can follow our social media pages to confirm we have done this since we got elected. It is not a sustainable solution but we will help those need as best as we can.

I would like to thank the team at NEMA under the able leadership of our elder sister and Essence International School alum, Hajiya Zubaida Dangiwa Umar. May God bless them all. For the sake of transparency, I revealed that we focused on my Central Working Committee, Coordinators for the First Phase I. I am glad that went well. Many have called to express their gratitude during these trying times.

On that basis, it is vital to thank the likes of Al Amin Yakubu, Husseini Zubairu, Auwalu Bakori, Isiya Aliyu (Shine), Mustapha One Minute, Aisha Shoty, Shamsu SS Mai Allah, Iro Golden Arrow and my very own Education Counsellors, Danmasani, Nuhu Sani Lere and Hon. Husseni Zubairu. The post below is the first phase of widows that benefited from my team’s work in Unguwar Kanawa/Hayin Banki and Kawo Ward that are widows and members of PWD community. This week in plenary, I had the pleasure of contributing to a critical amendment to the Banking & Other Financial Insitutions Act, (BOFIA). As Senior Legislative Aide & Chief of Staff to Senator @UbaSaniUs, the Governor of Kaduna, I had the disntict pleasure of working on the last amendment in the 9th Senate before it was assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari. This latest amendment was sponsored by my Egbon, Hon. Fayinka Moses Oluwatoyin who represents Mushin II Federal Constituency. The summary of the amendment is to make it easy and possible for victims of unauthorized withdrawal from their accounts to get their money back from the fraudsters through the full cooperation of commercial banks. The matter was referred to the Committee on Banking Regulations, which I humbly Chair and we will work on it diligently to ensure the rights of the Nigerian consumer are well protected. I genuinely believe steeper penalties will serve as a deterrent to this unfair situation. And we will strive to be fair to all stakeholders. But these multiple charges and unaccounted withdrawals must be brought to an end. A special mention to Hon. Oshin Oye who made the best contribution in my view. He sighted the need to take a page from other countries in line with international best practices. He stated a new UK-wide banking regulation comes into effect from the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR), which will change the way authorised push payment scams are dealt with. ‘‘These new mandatory rules are designed to make the process more consistent across the UK payment industry. There’s not much change to how we (Nigeria) already handle scam claims because we’ve been a signatory to the voluntary Contingent Reimbursement Model (CRM) Code since‌ M‌ay 2‌019. However, you may notice a difference if you have accounts with other banks. We want to make sure you’re up to speed with the changes, so here’s what you need to know. Firstly, what is an authorised push payment scam? This type of scam happens when the person you’re paying isn’t who you thought they were, or the payment is for a different reason than you expected.’’
