@Agnosticguy1 Well, the pleasure marriages is just a disguised form of prostitution where both parties agree on a duration and a defined wage for sex services. It's still allowed in Shia Islam but Umar the 2nd Caliph forbade it in Sunni Islam

@Agnosticguy1 My point is that the Islamic society in the times of Muhammad was depicted in the Quran as libertine where prostitution and "pleasure marriages" were socially and divinely acceptable. All the hard-core conservatism evolved much later, especially when the Hadith was made up.
