Community-owned company developing & operating renewable energy projects for community benefit on Islay / Jura / Colonsay & supporting energy efficiency drives.
#UCC operate a policy which gives the savings made by building using energy efficient methods back to those departments. @Glucksman used some of these funds to install LED lighting throughout, further reducing their energy use.

The research is at https://t.co/mejwB0A6At and anyone interested in looking at ground or water source heat pumps is welcome to use the info. The research was conducted as part of the #GeoAtlantic project & we continue to work with @atlantic_geo partners to explore further opps.
@ALIenergy13@juradevelopment@IslayEnTrust@FyneHEAT@DIG_Hydro@ScotIslandsFed A result of a mammoth amount of consultation with island communities this summer, this is the first Islands Plan & one of possibly 2 or 3 in existence (Croatia & possibly Japan being the others).
The Plan aims to put island communities at the very heart of policy.
Once again HUGE potential here........... Folk forget #Argyll is an island council but I would take a guess we have the largest number of individual ferry crossings of any local council area. Anyone have the stats???

@EMEC_Ltd are investigating the use of hydrogen for transport on #Orkney. With many of the Orkney Islands relying on ferries as a life line they see an opportunity in making reductions in the transport carbon footprint. Any #argyllenergyhour folk thinking what we're thinking?
We were impressed with @OrkneyCouncil's efficiency and forward thinking. We got to visit the Warehouse Buildings in Stromness which house the library, meeting rooms and Police office. All heated by a seawater heat pump situated under the pier. #argyllenergyhour@atlantic_geo
@ALIenergy13@OurIslandHome@DIG_Hydro@IonaRenewables@FyneHEAT To be honest - we need to see some big changes at industry level to make the impact we really need. We fully endorse individuals making changes as it all adds up, but it can't just be down to them. Big companies need to work more sustainably too. @ScotGovClimate
