An early question for you because this is a fundamental issue. Do you agree that the #isleofman suffers from a democratic deficit

If so, what do you think should be done to give the electorate more influence over policy?

@LawrieHooper @daffydowndilly @IOMGovernment @tynwaldlive Even more bizarre that neither branch is asking the people they are meant to serve what they want. It's this inward looking focus that generates such dissatisfaction in the Social Attitudes Survey and low voter turnout.

The Social Attitudes Survey and poor voter turnout consistently evidence that people are not happy with the current system.

Sadly, no member of tynwald is making #democracy a priority.

In the #isleofman version of #democracy, the people have very little power.
They feel frustrated that their representatives out their own views ahead of the people they are meant to serve.

Greater accountability is probably the most expeditious route to addressing this.
