@RandyLahey1994 Can’t believe the devils can still improve their roster right now and aren’t cooked on draft capital. It’s really good work and I’m scared of them getting Larkin now
@NHL_Watcher give him a break. It’s an impossible job to be the GM of that team when it comes to acquiring and retaining talent. Having players that have term is vital for them to survive. And remember they had no leverage here, they did got a solid return. Great trade for both sides!

I thought they played really well and couldn't get key finishes. Varlamov played well. Every goalie lets in stinkers here and there, including Ilya, which everyone forgets about until it happens.
Because goalies don't really win you hockey games all that often.
The team is moving in the right direction. The commitment to the system is really encouraging. Just been a fun season so far. Really easy to like this group of guys with how hard they are working out there.
Both teams did well in this trade. WPG had no leverage, but came away with NJ’s first round pick from 2026, a middle sixer in Mercer, backup goalie and more draft capital.
The Devils got their goalie. And even if Hellebuyck doesn’t play well they aren’t screwed on assets.
Connor Hellebuyck has been traded to New Jersey Devils. The deal includes Dawson Mercer, Nico Daws, Nick Bjugstad and Alexander Command, who NJ took No. 12 overall at the 2026 Draft. Plus two draft picks.
Connor Hellebuyck is on the Devils. Lots of moving parts to the deal reportedly, let’s see if the #Isles are involved as a third team which has been rumored
