@IslingtonBC have shoved all the traffic onto Liverpool Road. Then created ill conceived floating parking bays and then added two large cycle lanes. There isn’t enough room. Well done @IslingtonBC making roads more dangerous across the borough.
I cycle on Hornsey Road 4 times a week. Super congested and dangerous - see picture and there was a serious accident days previously. @IslingtonBC have closed surrounding roads to traffic, crammed all the vehicles onto this road - people get frustrated and accidents happen.
Just seen the Barnsbury and Laycock street proposal. Basically only one street left in the area open to traffic. Absolute madness @IslingtonBC . Absolute madness @RowChampion. Boundary roads are already chronically jammed. Crazy. Crazy. Crazy.
Completely blocked residential road. One of the few in Islington still open to through traffic. Embarrassing @IslingtonBC @RowChampion please sort it out and stop closing our roads.
@Paul_Convery @JonathanWinn19@RowChampion Rubbish. All the crossings on Liverpool Rd have not been reinstated and because of the traffic displaced by road closures they can’t practically be reinstated.
@RowChampion@IslingtonBC@RowChampion the pavements in Islington are often poorly maintained and littered with dog excrement. This discourages walking. An you publish fines data for littering please ?
@RowChampion@IslingtonBC@RowChampion what increase ? Using your own data traffic on Islington streets 2019 (v 1993) is down 7.7pc and 2019 (v 2007) is down 0.5pc. There is literally no increase so pls stop gaslighting the Islington public.
@IslingtonBC@RowChampion It is already safe and inviting-the last thing it needs is some of your cheap ugly planters that aren’t maintained, have ugly signage and dead plants. Spend some money here perhaps-traffic jams on Liverpool Rd due to the LTNs. Please somebody stop @RowChampion and @IslingtonBC.
@IslingtonBC@RowChampion Absolutely bonkers. No need to mess with a purely pedestrian area. Waste of time and money and loads of room for cyclists on parallel roads @RowChampion has got Essex Rd traffic to a standstill so great for cycling!
@MayorofLondon Dear Mayor. Have you read the report ? All it says is that if you close a road to through traffic only residents and folks delivering to residents use it. I live on a road near an LTN and traffic is up significantly post LTN implementation. They are unfair and badly planned.
@RowChampion@CarolineRussell Obviously traffic reduced on closed roads. The problem is the increase in traffic from the closed roads on the surrounding roads !
@RowChampion@CarolineRussell What a very silly headline and a very silly response from @RowChampion. Of course traffic reduced on the roads that were closed to through traffic, now only the residents of those roads have any interest in using them. Imagine if we deployed this bonkers strategy to every road.
@IslingtonBC@IslingtonBC think that causing congestion by randomly closing roads is environmentally friendly. Pictured is what regularly happens on Liverpool Rd now as a result of surrounding road closures. #noplan#noconsultation
@MarnieIslington@IslingtonBC@KayaJunction 2/2 it is a bit like Liverpool Rd where all the traffic is dumped from closed roads. There are regular traffic jams and even council data shows increased traffic volume especially lorries. @RowChampion what is your plan ??????
@KayaJunction@MarnieIslington@IslingtonBC Is that the data that has been completely discredited as unreliable ? Anybody can see that the congestion on Canonbury Rd is very bad and made worse by amateurish implementation of things like wider pavements that mean there is even less road space 1/2
