Andrew has been using his white cane to get around independently all his life. He can now no longer get the bus to Chiswick High Road to shop at M&S because of a two-way bike track running through his bus stop. All the major UK blind persons’ charities want to see a halt to this.
@SocEnvJustice Oh wow. @peterwalker99 must be apoplectic !
I’ve always said it — there is a strong left wing and environmental case against LTNs and many of those who object are actually green lefties despite the way they are mislabelled by opponents

At long last! An article in the Guardian exposing the truth about LTNs. And a brilliant one. By one of the paper's senior journalists who lives in the South London borough of Lambeth. https://t.co/v3AIRraV8t
I have no worlds ….
@BetterSt4Enf@PGCommunity harming children outside LTNs with more congestion… more pollution for much longer hours ….
Our road again into hour 3 ….
101% increased congestion 100 yards away from this point at the top of this road post LTN ….
@CarlosMorenoFr@seanpaulday Rather than an aggressive plan to keep lower-income Londoners - and their businesses - in the city, we have LTN schemes that close high income high car ownership streets and relocate traffic & pollution to community roads & High Streets, reducing customer visits for local shops.
Millions spent on infrastructure lobbied by cycling campaign groups because #LondonLovesCycling however the reality is an unfriendly pedestrian area, and tailbacks causing excess pollution to community main roads. #JustForBalance
The London Cycling Campaign is staging a Festival of Cycling this weekend with the title 'London Loves Cycling'. Timed just before next week's elections. We back cycling too but #justforbalance we highlight the policies pursued by some cycling groups over the past 4 years.

@SocEnvJustice I’ve recently experienced very aggressive cyclists not slowing down or giving pedestrians priority on Horsell rd in the Highbury LTN. It’s interesting how it is for them when the tables are turned
@KeepIzMoving@RowChampion@KayaJunction @Paul_Convery @andrewellson Very interesting basically the shops and businesses at Angel are worried they are going to become a casualty like Highbury Barn but this time the whole borough will be affected. @andrewellson perhaps shine a light on this. Islington surely have to listen?
@neilchristiex That’s the closed road near your house linking between the fields. In all the time Highbury has had it’s LTN I’ve never seen children playing in the LTN streets
@willnorman@TfL Will, are you prepared to admit at all that some LTNs and turning bus lanes into cycle lanes has delayed some bus journeys, particularly at peak hours?
A short SEJ publication, out today, reveals 21 major bus corridors have had some of their bus lanes replaced by cycle lanes since 2013.
And that it is lower-income households, disabled people and women & children who are the biggest losers

5 pm on a a Wednesday. Upper street at a standstill from St Mary’s Church all the way up to Highbury corner. Pedestrians and cyclists breathing fumes. Bus users going nowhere. Well done 👏 @IslingtonBC @RowChampion @CarolineRussell
@tony_londontaxi@LucyFacer@BarnsburySt@staff_heather@RowChampion@prafulnargund @Ilkaycinko72 @Cllr_NTuran .. that's the problem with this policy, pitting residents against each other. The policy is basically 'I'm alright Jack' - let's filter 15 rds in Barnsbury and not worry about MacKenzie, Liverpool, Copenhagen, and Cally Rd. An appalling way to treat residents and run a borough
